Bottle from Bestway Greensburo - well it’s a chocolate stout, but I didn’t get a lot of the honey... Solid, but not particularly exciting.

Bottle. Pours an extremely dark brown with a smallish light brown head. Nose has some nice sweet notes with chocolate in there and just a hint of roasting. Taste has a lot of the roasting in there as well, and is extremely smooth.

Beautiful near black pour with ample tan foam head. Nose is sweet milk chocolate and nutty roast. Flavor is more like powdered cocoa mix, and slight lactic twinge with a bitter roast to balance out the sweetness. I don’t exactly pick up the honey as a flavor, but more as just a sweetness. Not amazing, but pretty tasty. If this was the last beer I ever had, I could live with that. ;P

12oz bottle from Sam’s, Durham. Nice hefty dark brown pour, with some light flakes of sediment and a medium, prickly head. Nose is light roasted malts, cocoa, a touch of ancho and just a hint of the underlying honey. Unlike my buddy Sam, I got slightly more of the sweet elements in the taste (some vanilla and honey, along with a touch of caramel), though I still found it far more understated than expected. I’d have liked it if the cocoa nibs were a bit more assertive too, to balance things out with just a bit more bite. Overall it was solid but not nearly as distinctive as advertised.

Bottle. Pours dark brown with one finger of dark tan head with adequate lace. Nose shows some sweeter nuttier cocoa, light vanilla, and honey upfront. Lots of hazelnut, vanilla and milk chocolate. Flavor is not quite as sweet, thankfully. Lots of roast, liquorice and molasses up front. Much less of the sweeter notes noted in the aroma come through in the taste. Much more bitter and roasty with some lingering darker, more bitter cocoa flavors and not much honey to speak of. But that’s okay with me.

On tap at Bodega on 12/28/12. Black pour with a thick tan head. Aroma of butter, chocolate and roast. Malty and chocolatey flavor with a bit of butter before a bitter, roasty dark chocolate finish.

pours super dark with a dark brown reddish head, leaves good lacing. aroma is faint chocolate, some roasted malts not much else. i expected this to be sweeter since this was a "chocolate honey stout" but really its a very simple stout, slightly roasty, some bitter earthy hops, no notes of honey at all, thin palate. i feel ripped off payin 12.99 for a four pack of this.

Coffee aroma. I assumed with honey as the catalyst it would have been sweeter. Fairly bitter. I don't pick out the nibs. It's ok ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Dogbrick (6065) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - DEC 23, 2012
Sample during the Armageddon tasting at Ale Wine & Spirits in Powell on 12/20/2012. The beer pours a dark brownish-black color with a medium thick tan head that diminishes slowly. Patchy lacing on the glass. Aroma of chocolate, malt and grain. Medium body with flavors of roasted malt, sweet chocolate and slight hops. The finish is sweet and chocolatey. Pretty good overall.
