4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
It produced a beautiful, thick, creamy head with a very light fragrance - almost imperceptible. The first sip yielded a great, silky thick mouth feel almost stout like, yet definitely a quality porter. It seemed slightly bitter with a coffee bark but began to sweeten. A subsequent pour was from a lightly cooled bottle (say... 48 degrees?) into a room temperature glass. Still a great head, but decidedly more malty and hints of bittersweet chocolate mixed well with the coffee tones.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
$9.99 for the 6pack purchased at Kroger, the High St. location (Columbus). Consumed with good friends around a campfire, our reserved site on Hocking Hills State Park land. To pint (or large Styrofoam cup - whichever), it pours a syrupy mauve-tinted dark brown, with which a bubbly beige head 1Ĺ fingers in length stood. Aromas of cigar ash, pine cones, autumnal leaves, sawdust, charcoal, sweat, unripe blueberries, and leather. Tastes the same with the addition of stale coffee, cashew butter, and dried sage. Chocolate malt experienced by swallow, alongside minerals, black licorice, and London yeast. Decent mouthfeel - one sip, and it was gone - or at least thatís how it felt. Slightly watery, though that didnít get in the way of me enjoying it. Not fantastic, but would have again. Surprised I havenít had this before.

From a bottle. Pours almost black with a thick beige head. Really nice lacing. Aromas of chocolate malt, gypsum, butterscotch, vanilla and stone fruits. Flavors of plum, chocolate, vanilla, and bready notes. Creamy mouthfeel. Very little hop character, but this beer is well balanced and delicious.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Initial aroma of milk chocolate(!) Pours dark with a thick tan head that fades fast. But the initial taste has a taste of bitter chocolate with layers of flavor. Smooth and crisp.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
p2oz bottle, Pours dark black with a light tan head, decent lacing. Aroma is slightly sweet cocoa malt. Taste is roasted chocolate malts and toffee, and some chocolate malts coming through. For a stout it is on the thin and watery side, but still, this brew is a good tasting beer that is worth the try.
