Bottle thanks to beerbill. Pours with a dark brown body and on off-white head. Aroma of coffee, dark chocolate, cocoa, and a bit vinous. Taste is coffee, coffee grounds, with a nice richness and some chocolate. A well made porter. Lively carbonation and a creamy mouthfeel.

Bottle, thanks again to Beachbum25! Well this beer was a surprise. A great name and a very good beer. Pours a nice black color and a decent sized head. Aromas are chocolate and coffee. Flavors are sweet and great. Rich and thick mouthfeel. Nice! very little hops.

Rich dark brown color with a nice tan head. Aroma is rich and milk chocolatey with lots of sweet malt. Goes down robust, rich and smooth with plenty of chocolate malt and a nice hoppy balance. A very nice porter. Thanks to Drew for this one!

Sammy (7040) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 8, 2006
Medium plus mouthfeel, tasty, a bit on the sweet side but tasty, nicely malted and likeable addition of chocolate. Suitably understated carbonation. Went great with pizza and mid eastern spicey food. Coffee not observed, and only faint hop.

Bottle. Nice rich ashy charred malts and milk notes all over this stout. This stout is very rich without being heavy. In fact, this stout is also a little creamy, with the milk note up front and more of a dry, ashy character on the back. Pretty much hits the bullseye for a nice stout, right in the center. Right what you would expect from a stout. Stout stout stout. I like stouts.

UPDATED: JUL 21, 2012 The Lure:
Roasted grain agreeably dominates, on a bed of wet bread. Sweetness within, but not very outgoing so far. That name and label must be one of the worst I’ve ever seen, btw.

The Festivities:
Passive chocolate yields for roastiness. Sweetness plummets into a soft and quiet finish. Very easy to drink, nothing wrong here.

Transcendence: Just another in a long line of workman’s Porters.

Bottle from State Line, Elkton, MD. Pours deep black with dark brown menisci. Aroma of chocoff, prunes, almonds, corn flakes. Tastes chocoffy, nutty, and caramel malty. Medium to full palate with a smooth finish. Not as good as Smutty Robust Porter, but very good in its own right.

Bottled. Poured clear, deeper brown with a creamy initial cap of yellowy-beige head. The aroma picked up sweeter, toasty caramel and darker chocolate notes with a bit of oat and lactose sweetness.. deeper wet barley emerged with warmth. The flavor was also on the sweet side, with roasted barley and milky chocolates at the core.. sticky molasses and a mild herbal bitterness graced the edges. Medium-bodied with lower carbonation and a nice sticky impression on the finish.. well-balanced and enjoyable.

12 ounce bottle from Beer Run in Charlottesville, VA. Pours a medium brown color with a medium head. Big chocolate and some roasted malts in the aroma. Taste is very similar... milk chocolate with some coffee and roasted malts. Medium bodied.

Bottle from Rozi’s in Cleveland. Shared with Mabel. Black body, tiny ring of chocolate brown froth. Rich aroma of mild roast, light raisins, dark chocolate and sweet malt is actually a bit tough to tease out of the glass (7+). Similar flavours, lots of dark lightly roast malt and chocolate. Very light coffee aspect to the roast, but much milder than in some porters, and it benefits from this in my opinion (7+). Average to medium palate seems light and under carbonated on some sips, rich and perfect on others. (3+) I quite enjoyed this one.
