cking (709), North Canton, Ohio, USA Apr 30, 2008 Alright, brewed and bottled in Akron, Ohio...good to see the brewery come back to the area and start putting out some of their old line up that hasn’t been available for years. A medium bodied fruit beer with lots of raspberry characteristics. Pours a thick, dark gold color with a thin white head and spotty lacing. Nice, lazy carbonation with lots of small bubbles. An immediate thick aroma of fresh raspberries backed by some doughy malt. Mild mannered mouth feel, surprisingly filling. Finishes a touch sticky. The raspberry flavor dominates but is rounded out by some complimenting tastes of nuts and bread. A small amount of coffee creamer is discovered as well. A nice fruit beer with some complexity, welcome back home Thirsty Dog.
ogglethorp (750), Ohio, USA Jul 13, 2008 Bottle. Pours a hazy golden color with a small white head. Aroma is raspberries, light malt. Flavor is tart raspberries, light malts. Palate is on the lighter side, medium carbnation, finished sweet. A decent fruit beer. vikingbeercbus (14), Columbus, Ohio, USA Jun 30, 2008 12 oz. bottle. Pours a cloudy gold color with a one finger head. Strong nose of fresh raspberries, sweet. Taste a surprise, the raspberry is understated held up to the smell, heavier toward the finish. Bitter more than sweet, like a raspberry tart, undertones of wheat. Fizzy, carbonated mouthful. Would be good to compliment chocolates. patrick767 (1377), fort wayne, Indiana, USA Jun 30, 2008 bottle - Pours light amber with a substantial aroma of raspberries. The flavor is a slightly tart raspberries and sweet malt. It’s light bodied, refreshing, and quaffable, but doesn’t stand out from the many other fruit beers on the market now. KnN (205), Greenbelt, Maryland, USA Jun 30, 2008 Smells like a basket of fresh raspberries. Pours a decent amber color with not much head. Tasted a little bit like raspberry sorbet or something. Fairly fruity, not to sweet. Where this beer is failing is in the fact that I drank it about an hour ago and have been having foul raspberry flavored burps since I had it. BeerVirgin72 (556), C-Bus, Ohio, USA Jun 30, 2008 Bottle shared at Cbus tasting 11. Cloudy golden pour. Aroma of tart raspberries. Tast was the same. Sweet and tart. A bit of a sour finish. Pretty decent fruit beer.
