Pours a black color with a tan head. Aroma is of chocolate, roasted malts, and coffee with a slight hint of alcohol. Flavor is heavy and chewy up front with the roasted malts and coffee. Finish is slightly sweeter with the chocolate. Slight alcohol warming on the finish.

Pours a very dark brown to black with a thin tan ring. Nice aroma of sweet roasted malts and a hint of dark chocolate. Light carbonation with some lacing. Thin to medium body. Taste is roasted malts and semi sweet dark chocolate. Fairly smooth finish with some lingering flavors. Not as good as I expected but not bad.

A bittersweet, big, bold, black stout beer. Lots of chocolate and dark malt flavors. Thick succulent mouthfeel. Label says, honey, and while the sweetness is very mellow like honey, I could not detect any honey myself. The cocoa nibs are right there in the front though. Some earthy spices show in the otherwise chocolaty finish.

Pours up a dark brown, nearly black with a nice brown head. Aroma is nearly all chocolate. Taste is chocolate with an earthy, bready malt, a touch of dark fruit, and some black molasses. There is a light spicy note on the finish, but nothing you can put a finger on. Full bodied. Smooth, sweet, silky. Good stuff.

12 ounce bottle - $3.99 at Total Wine & More in Greenville, South Carolina. Appearance: Slips out a black body crowned with two inches of tan-hued suds. Smell: A leading sniff of soy sauce, as well as roasted malts, clearance chocolate, burnt sugars and spiced honey candy. Taste: It’s sweet, moderately so. Hinting of honey sweet, even. Sweetness is blunted by roastiness with some low-grade chocolate. Very mild spice element for a little, low pepper note. A bit of umami. Sweetish, honey-roast finish. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Fairly smooth mouthfeel. Overall: At best it’s so-so.

Bittersweet but mostly pretty bitter - not hop bitter but the taste of dark chocolate. Unable to find much other honey flavors. Cocoa finish is best part.

12 oz. bottle purchased at 7-11 Kittery. No head on a pitch black oily black stout. Aroma is light honey, dark chocolate, mild roast. Nice

The honey gives the mouthfeel a slick / oily feel in a full body. Nice mouthfeel. Deep roasted grain base, good amount of chocolate. The roast is pretty good and balanced by the honey. Pretty damn tasty.

Poured a darker brown with a beige head. Aroma of dark fruit, roast and a bit feety. Flavor similar, lightly lactic milk character. Meh.

Poured into a snifter. 3.0 A: Black color. One and a half fingers of frothy light brown head. Retention is a touch below average and a short ring of lacing is left. 4.25 S: This smells pretty damn good. Cocoa nibs are most prominent. Supple roastiness, honey, caramel, and molasses. The nibs just smell so damn good. Can’t smell this enough. 4.25 T: Taste is just as good as the nose. Again big cocoa flavor. Supple, soft roastiness. Honey isn’t too pronounced, but does add a bit of complexity. Caramel, molasses, and neutral malty sweetness. Again, quite good. 4.5 M: Medium body. Good moderate carbonation. Nice creaminess and super smooth. 4.5 D: This is surprisingly a really good beer. I think I have to pick up some more of it. ★ 739 characters DavoleBomb, May 14, 2014
