Poured into a snifter. 3.0 A: Black color. One and a half fingers of frothy light brown head. Retention is a touch below average and a short ring of lacing is left. 4.25 S: This smells pretty damn good. Cocoa nibs are most prominent. Supple roastiness, honey, caramel, and molasses. The nibs just smell so damn good. Canít smell this enough. 4.25 T: Taste is just as good as the nose. Again big cocoa flavor. Supple, soft roastiness. Honey isnít too pronounced, but does add a bit of complexity. Caramel, molasses, and neutral malty sweetness. Again, quite good. 4.5 M: Medium body. Good moderate carbonation. Nice creaminess and super smooth. 4.5 D: This is surprisingly a really good beer. I think I have to pick up some more of it. ★ 739 characters DavoleBomb, May 14, 2014

Look - Watery black body. Medium tan head and dissipated quickly. Little lacing. Smell - Honey. Apples. Chocolate. Coffee. Taste - It advertises honey but it reminded me of Mottís Apple Juice. This initial apple taste quickly transitioned to the traditional chocolate and coffee flavors. Bitter at the end. Faint tobacco in after taste. Higher score for uniqueness. Feel - Watery yet creamy. Not as heavy as expected. Alcohol is apparent but not overpowering. Overall - I like the apple juice taste. I know it sounds crazy but I didnít have a wrecked palate before drinking this. Found it aged and thoroughly discounted!

Bottle from Erica for Fatherís day. Poured a dark brown color with a small brown head with excellent lacing. Moderate roasted sweet malt, Coco and honey aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture. Medium roasted sweet flavor and chocolate with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. A very nice Stout!

Pours pitch black. Normal head volume and retention, above normal lacing. Light, but complex, nose of coffee, roast, cocoa and an underlying honey sweetness. Medium bodied with a thick smooth body that approaches creamy. Superb carbonation with a nice prickly effervescence from the middle on. The outstanding flavor profile is intense, complex and superbly balanced. It begins with a blend of flavors that separate into cocoa/roast over a very subtle coffee like aspect. The middle allows the underlying malt base to provide a balancing sweetness, with honey aspects, to a mild roast bitterness. The finish is where this stout really shines as a burst of effervescence separates the flavor components over a rich honey flavored sweetness and leaves you with a amazingly tart like residual that has notes of spice. A fine beginner stout.

Dark pour with a brown tint on the edges. Two fingers of brown head sit in the glass. Nose shows chocolate with earthy/bready malt, a touch of acidity and fruit skins, and some black molasses. Iím not getting much of the Mayan spice, some slightly spicy notes show on the finish but nothing you can point out. Chocolate note and a mellow roast. Medium full bodied.

Aroma: Slightly nutty, spicy aroma. Appearance: Dark mahogany with tan head. Taste: Slight sourness with slight sweetness. Palate: Medium body, dry texture, soft carbonation, long dry finish. Overall: Slightly one dimensional, but still a solid beer with a nice dry finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from Appalachian Vintner. Pours black with a thick khaki head. A bit of chocolate on the nose. Dusty chocolate on the tongue with a touch of sweetness. Finishes with some hop bitterness for fun. Not bad.
