Draft to taster. Looks solid; a translucent cola with beige head that steadily dissipates into lacing. Smells bittersweet with notes of dark malt, chocolate, and spices. Tastes like it smells with an average mouthfeel that’s a little thin, but decent. A solid stout.

Bottle - Roast malts and chocolate with some sweetness. Jet black with a thin brown head. Nice chocolate notes with dark malts and a light sweetness. Spices are in the background, subtle but nice.

12 oz bottle and draft. Pours a dark amber brown color with a medium sized beige head. The aroma and flavor have dark chocolate, roast, all kinds of spices, mild peppery notes, very sweet probably due to the honey, cocoa powder, a bit thin for all the stuff going on. Let’s double the size of this and see what happens.

12oz bottle into Le Guinness 2010 - nose is adjunct roast/chocolate. Sip adds borderline burnt coffee with wood chips to boot. I’m thinking a stout that just got a burning stick thrown into it. The bitterness is growing on me. Picking up on peppers for a slight kick. Here’s to its 40th rating!

The other technical descriptions are ok. I just wanted to say they seem to miss the chocolate blended with chillies flavor that IS the Mayan part of this. It is a light to medium body stout with a unique flavor blend. It may not hit you over the he’d with flavor but it doesn’t fade out after 2 glasses either.

Draft at The Brass Tap. Pours a deep brown with amber highlights and a moderate tan head that laces the glass and leaves a film. Immediate notes of soy emerge from the nose, along with chocolate, toast, brown sugar, earth, faint spice, and tobacco. Light-medium bodied, with moderate soft carbonation and a toasty, umami mouthfeel. Good stout but could be better.
