COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We took our award winning Siberian Night Russian Imperial Stout and aged it for 11 months in fresh bourbon barrels. The result blew us away. The dark chocolate malt yields a milk chocolate flavor that blends perfectly with the vanilla flavor from the barrel. The bourbon aroma adds the finishing touch.

Jet black, persistent beige head. Roasted coffee bean, rich chocolate, vanilla, brown sugar, oak barrel, and hints of smoke. Initial sweetness quickly gives way to some acidity and tartness (possible infection?). Smooth and creamy but thinner in body and texture than expected. So much potential wasted.

Bottle generously shared by Darkguardian. Dark brown pour with an off white head. Not much on the nose. A little fizzy, slightly acidic with mild sour notes. Definitely the early stages of an infection. A little thin in the body..

bubbleflubber (1709) - Asheville, North Carolina, USA - JUL 28, 2013
This pours opaque black with a light tan head that leaves a tiny ring of suds. The nose is of deeply toasted, sweet caramel and light roasts. Flavors follow suit, with smoked toffee, toasty caramel, bourbon-soaked figs and dates, chocolate and vanilla candies, oak-infused molasses and subtle dark maple syrup. The finish continues with smoky sweetness, complemented by roasted dark-cherry caramels, introducing just a hint of peppering alcohol. This aged offering has a full body with an oily, semi-sticky mouthfeel, integrating soft carbonation to make the quaff so very smooth! This is extremely comforting and complex, taking one of the most respected brews Iíve had and kicking it up a notch! Thick, gorgeous and beautiful, this is superbly second-to-none!!

Bottle shared. Pours very dark brown with a small head that fades quickly to a ring. Aromas are light roast, bourbon, vanilla, and chocolate. Taste is very smooth but lacks complexity. Mostly just bourbon and light chocolate. Medium body with a smooth mouthfeel, noticeable carbonation. Overall, a smooth BB sipper but nothing special.

Sikash (230) - North Carolina, USA - JUL 12, 2013
Pours a nice dark color with a light tan head. Aroma is heavy on bourbon with chocolate and some roasted malt. Flavor is bourbon, malt, chocolate, and coffee. Mouth feel is not as thin as I expect. Carbonation is average. This beer is heavy bourbon but I donít sense much under it. I think this will age well.

Pour is thin bodied with very little to no head. Aromas of bourbon vanilla and chocolate. Tastes along the same line. Unfortunately the barrel aging has thinned the beer compared to normal siberian night. Whiskey notes are very dry and lacking in the full body taste. Simetimes too much time in the barrel is not the way to go. Maybe if they used freshly drained barrels the taste would better suit this beer.

Bottle: The aroma consists of chocolate, vanilla, light black licorice, maple syrup, and bourbon with some heat. It pours a dark brown with no transparency and a small beige head that fades to a thin ring. The flavor starts with chocolate, molasses, and light caramel. It finishes with light-moderate bourbon, light roasted coffee, and vanilla. Itís medium bodied with moderate-lively carbonation and a rather thin mouthfeel for a Imperial Stout. Overall, the aroma leads to high expectations that the flavor doesnít live up to.

12 oz. bottle from Tasty Beverage Co., Raleigh, NC. Dark, black pour with a thin khaki head. Enticing aroma of bourbon, vanilla, oak, dark chocolate, coconut, and booze. The taste offers a bit less vanilla, bourbon, and coconut than I had hoped for with oak, coffee, and chocolate coming through primarily in the flavor. The vanilla and bourbon are somewhat detected but are muted by the primary flavors. The mouthfeel is not as chewy as I had hoped for. Complaints aside, this is still a stellar beer.

Growler pours with a nice dark body that supports a thin tan head. The aroma offers up sweetness, dark roasted malts, molasses covered coconut and mild boozy bourbon. The taste is smooth with molasses, dark roasted malts and some smooth bourbon notes. These notes go well together and the beer and barrel balance is spot on creating a fairly rich and enjoyable sipping experience.

Strong aroma with black pour with a complex taste and lingering mouthfeel. Easy drinking beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
