4.2 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
An old favorite hits the barrel, the first BB beer Iíve done in a while... time to see how this holds up. Black pour with the usual mocha head that dissipates to a film. Lovely aroma of dark chocolate, bready boozey cake, dark fruits, light burnt caramel and vanilla spice. Flavors of dark chocolate, light bourbon, a bit of wood, dates and spice. Boozey, bittersweet, light woodiness and a bit of licorice bite. Mouthfeel is lighter than what I wouldíve imagined, not a light beer by any stretch but the barrel thinned some of the chewiness I expect from the regular offering. The finish is booze soaked fruit and a bit of roasted bitterness that lingers. Overall, not real heat that I would expect from some lesser BB offerings... up there with the more elegant BB beers and while itís not a style I indulge in too often anymore this is certainly a fine example of the the style and BB practice. My only gripe being was the hope that the body was as big as the aroma led me to believe and that the booze becomes a bit more apparent upon warmth.

Nearly black color with a brown head. Lots of chocolate, bourbon, vanilla. Straight forward but really damn tasty. Very well crafted.

Bottle. Pours black with tan head. Nose and taste of vanilla, bourbon, sweet chocolate, chocolate syrup, really sweet chocolate, milk chocolate, oak and chopped nuts. The nuttiness saves this from being an overly sweet disaster. Still a bit too sweet for me. Medium body.

Kaaaablawhaaa. This imperial stout does it all right. Massive chocolate aroma with pleasant vanilla and whiskey notes. Check. Opaque black thick body with 2 fingers of dark brown head. Check. Smooth balance that blends sweet chocolate with light burnt malt bitterness. Check. A high alcohol content that remains partially hidden, and never fusel. Check. Bring more. Quickly.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
This one poured a very dark brown to black with a tan head. Aroma was big bourbon, fudge, light smoke, and vanilla. Flavor is similar, but not as big on the bourbon, very well rounded combo of a great impy and ba qualities . Not closing at all and even at 11% i could easily have a few of these.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from Samís Quik Shop. Why in the world did I pay $7.99 for 12oz? An impulsive moment for me, and in retrospect a stupid one. This beer is good but far from great. Black pour, sort of flat. Nose is lots of vanilla, slightly sour oak notes, hints of chocolate. Lots more sweet chocolate, syrupy sweet, and a bit of chocolate bitterness on the finish. Far from worth the cost.

A very good taste at first but as it warmed up, too much of a bourbon taste for me.

3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
Dark brown, light mouthfeel, delicate bourbon nose. Aroma is full and glorious, reminiscent of a far better refined BA RIS. Roasty, chestnuts, bourbon, smooth malts. Good, not great.
