We took our award winning Siberian Night Russian Imperial Stout and aged it for 11 months in fresh bourbon barrels. The result blew us away. The dark chocolate malt yields a milk chocolate flavor that blends perfectly with the vanilla flavor from the barrel. The bourbon aroma adds the finishing touch.

64 ounce growler at Markwise’s Bday bash, poured a dark black color, aromas of roast, bourbon, light vanilla, and some sweet malt. Flavors are the same as aroma, little more bourbon shines through as the beer warms, thanks Mark for the share.

Had a glass of this a while back at Sam’s, Durham. Nose preserves the lovely chocolate malt and roasts from the base beer, an old fave, and adds to it a very well integrated, subtle, and quite balanced addition from the barrel. Rare for this style this days, the modification actually enhances the base by evoking some of its sweeter and more assertive properties more substantially. Roasts are complemented by the wood, choc by the booze. Nice improvisation.

Growler courtesy of GatorGuy92. Cheers, Matt! In looking at others’ ratings, I have to assume that this mellowed with a few months of age. It was very mellow as others have pointed out how "fresh and hot" it was. Pours a typical obsidian color with a thin tan head. Nose is vanilla, wood, coffee, very mild booze, chocolate, and roasted malts. Flavor is similar- starts with coffee, chocolate and vanilla. Further looking gives off some wood and roast. Finish is mild vanilla and wood. Very nice, very balanced BA Imp stout.

The barrel aged version of this is very nice. The aging brings about some fantastic Vanilla qualities to the espresso chocolate qualities to this Imperial Stout. The barrel agin also in my opinion mellows this beer nicely. It adds just the right amount of Whiskey nuances without going overboard. Truly these qualities enhance an already fantastic beer adding complexity that is enjoyable and memorable.

UPDATED: DEC 30, 2013 Tap at TBK. Very dark pour with a reddish brown head. Very similar to the non barrel aged, but you get the whiskey elements. Very good.

On tap at vintage. Yes sir, big and black and dark and creamy appearence. Smells like any other impy stout. Flavor is same, big black and impy and of course with a hint of whisky in there. Rather strong and rude rotto-tiller. Nasty as the most nasty on style impy stouts. Alky very prominent. Whisky impy stout finish-long and rude.
