Creamy and full-bodied, with a complex character from generous amounts of roasted, toasted, and caramel malts. For those who demand flavor, this is the perfect libation. Bronze Medal winner 2003 GABF, Gold Medal winner 2005 GABF.

Wow. I see so many high scores for this beer, bit it just doesn’t do it for me. And the Imperial Stout is my favorite style. From bottle, black pour with thin tan head. Aroma is very full of roasted malts with hints of coffee. Taste is the same, but markedly bitter and with a tanginess that is more common with some porters. Bitter finish. Gets better as it comes to room temperature.

Bottle... Poured jet black with a moderate khaki head. Aroma of molasses cookies, burnt brownies, and fresh coffee. Big roast here with a strong mocha/coffee flavor. Dark chocolate and roasted grains with low bitterness. Creamy sugars and toffee burnt sweetness too. Really nice and glad to finally tick this one.

A - As dark as midnight, just what I’d expect from an imperial stout. S - As expected, nothing unusually good or bad...quite nice though but it’s what I would expect. T - OMG, I think I’ve found an imperial stout that can share a place in my heart with Oscar Blues’s Ten Fidy. Delicious, and even more flavorful as it comes to room temperature. M - Full bodied, not thick, not thin...kind of a medium "just right". O - I found this at DiCicco’s Market in Ardsley, NY today unexpectedly. I tried it on the recommendation of one of the guys in the beer section. He did not steer me wrong. I hadn’t found an imperial stout anywhere close to Ten Fidy till now. Only regret is that I didn’t get a 4-pack or two. May have to jump in the car and get back up there to get some more. This is a really flavorful imperial stout.

Sampled at Boise’s Imperial Stout get together, over 120 bottles to choose from. Going with the flow on this rating.

Black pour with an espresso head giving way to phenomenal lacing on the glass. Aroma is black coffee, roasted malt, and a bit of hops for balance. Taste is bakers chocolate, espresso, chocolate malt, and faint earth from the hops. Good beer.

Bottle share during March Madness semifinals. Appearance is dark as night, light tan foam. Aroma is beautiful - dark malt, hints of coffee, dark fruits. Taste is dark malt bitterness, nice lingering quality on the palate, syrupy strong body but still very drinkable. Palate is completely damaged - very strong malt bite. Overall, not a crazily complex stout but very good.
