Sampled at the BrewHaHa in Grand Rapids. Tastes of chocolate and dark malt. Nicely balanced. A solid brew.

Draught at Mad Mex. Poured black with brown foamy head. Great aromas of coffee and chocolate. Slight booze. Smokey choco malt booze taste. Not as smooth as I would expect. ---Rated via Beer Buddy

Bottle, pours pitch black, heavy body, sticks to glass, smells of coffee and chocolate. Mouth feel is thick and creamy, very well balanced roast with hints of chocolate & toffee. Damn fine beer! Similar to left hand, thirsty dog & mission brewing imp. Stouts ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pour is pitch black with a brown head. Great nose, huge roasted malt up front, chocolate and toffee are prevalent, some sweet malt and dark fruit as well. Very bitter chocolatey taste, some coffee, toastiness, molasses, and a light bit of peat in the finish. Full bodied, viscous stout with medium carbonation. Didn’t really expect this from this brewery, but a fantastic beer.

Thanks to Shawn for this one. Black pour with a khaki head. Big roasted malt and licorice aromas. Mild smoke, dark chocolate, earth, molasses, and mild caramel sweetness. The flavor is very roasty and lightly bitter. Notes of smoke, some licorice, and tons of dark chocolate. Earthy hops, some cocoa powder, and a light caramel and molasses sweetness.

Dark pour with medium tan head. Smells of roasts and a bit of chocolate but not much. Pretty good i guess i just got my hopes up. Mostly roasty taste with very slight notes of coffee and chocolate. Very low grade for an imperial stout but still very good! Taste the beast.

Appearance: I was lazy and didn’t pour it into a glass ... however, I can say that this thing has a surprisingly decent head, even in the bottle. Smell: Woody. Smokey. Chocolatey. A quality RIS. Taste/feel: Follows the nose, as most RIS’s seem to do. I haven’t had many, but I can easily say that this kills Samuel Adams’ variation. This has a good bit of smoked, woody flavors along with the typical chocolate and coffee tastes you’d expect. The feel is medium, and super slick. Sticky as well. RIS’s aren’t my style normally, but this is one I could sip on every now and then ... preferably on a chilly winter night. Best I’ve had from the style -- though I must remind you again, I haven’t had too many RIS’s.

A classic imperial stout. Deep and full-bodied, lots of roasted malts. However, I don’t think it has the depth that some other impys have. I don’t get as many notes of coffee, cocoa, and toffee that some imperial stouts have. So, this is a good standard issue impy, but not the best. If you’re just starting to get into imperial stouts, this beer is for you.

Mocha head and lacing. Lots of dark chocolate off the top. Nice bitter aftertaste with roasted malt aroma. Pungent, musky aroma. Everything an imperial stout should be. Pours pitch black with average carbonation. Bottle.

Bottle pour to snifter. Shiney black with cocoa head. Aroma: coffee, chocolate. Taste: strong roasted malt, bitter coffee. Creamy and carbonated on the palate on the first part of the glass, then smoothed out on the second half. No booziness.
