It poured a super pitch black with a very nice foamy darkish tan two inch head that had a very nice foamy spider web, ringy lacing. The head pretty much lasted until the whole beer is consumed. No carbonation was seen rising because the body is too dark. The smell had the roasted malts, coffe, chocolate, molassess and brown sugars up front and combined ever so nicely. A nice smoky yet slightly hoppy aroma was there. The taste had pretty much the same thing, which is good to me. The palate was heavy, thick, and strong. It had a smooth aftertaste and finish. Overall, this was very well done for its style and its spectacular to me.

Great imperial stout. Very traditional - thick dark brown pour with just a tou h of foamy head. Nice strong roasted malts in the nose. Satisfying mouthfeel. Not over carbonated. Hints of chocolate, coffee, rum and cherries.

Bottle care of Simz, pours dark black with small beige top. Ultra roasty with bitter cocoa and coffee. Other notes of licorice, malt, grain, and toffee. Medi in body with a touch of stickiness.

12 ounce bottle into snifter, no bottle dating. Pours dense pitch black color with a 2 finger dense khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, roasted malt, toast, toffee, molasses, dark bread, smoke, light char, light dark fruit, and roast/smokey earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roasted malt notes; with good strength. Taste of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, roasted malt, toast, dark bread, molasses, smoke, char, light dark fruit, and roast/char earthiness. Good amount of roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, roast, coffee, toast, dark bread, molasses, smoke, char, and roasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Fantastic complexity and balance of dark/roasted malt flavors; with a great roasted bitterness/sweetness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and fairly full bodied; with a very creamy and fairly slick/chalky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with only a light warming present after the finish. Overall this is an awesome imperial stout. All around great complexity and balance of intense dark/roasted malt flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the ABV. A highly enjoyable offering.

12 oz bottle purchased at Caponeís. Pours an opaque dark brown/black with lasting beige head and lacing. Aroma is mild and slightly medicinal: malt, char and band aids. Hm. Flavor is much better, with an intense roasty bitterness, oatmeal sweetness, a slight grainy aspect. Lasting intense bitter finish with slight note of dark chocolate covered cherries and roasted coffee beans. Delicious.

Served alongside BA Siberian Night. The beer is black and opaque with a thick, soapy, beige head. The aroma is awesome. Rich roasted malt with chocolate and a touch of espresso beans. Bitter chocolates with a touch of char. Absolutely delicious. Elegant and silky feel on the palate. Years ago, this was readily available and now itís a chore to track down a single bottle. Bummer. This is a world class imperial stout.

Wow. I see so many high scores for this beer, bit it just doesnít do it for me. And the Imperial Stout is my favorite style. From bottle, black pour with thin tan head. Aroma is very full of roasted malts with hints of coffee. Taste is the same, but markedly bitter and with a tanginess that is more common with some porters. Bitter finish. Gets better as it comes to room temperature.

Bottle... Poured jet black with a moderate khaki head. Aroma of molasses cookies, burnt brownies, and fresh coffee. Big roast here with a strong mocha/coffee flavor. Dark chocolate and roasted grains with low bitterness. Creamy sugars and toffee burnt sweetness too. Really nice and glad to finally tick this one.

A - As dark as midnight, just what Iíd expect from an imperial stout. S - As expected, nothing unusually good or bad...quite nice though but itís what I would expect. T - OMG, I think Iíve found an imperial stout that can share a place in my heart with Oscar Bluesís Ten Fidy. Delicious, and even more flavorful as it comes to room temperature. M - Full bodied, not thick, not thin...kind of a medium "just right". O - I found this at DiCiccoís Market in Ardsley, NY today unexpectedly. I tried it on the recommendation of one of the guys in the beer section. He did not steer me wrong. I hadnít found an imperial stout anywhere close to Ten Fidy till now. Only regret is that I didnít get a 4-pack or two. May have to jump in the car and get back up there to get some more. This is a really flavorful imperial stout.
