3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours thick and dark with a small light brown head that leaves nice lacing. Chocolate and coffee are most dominant in aroma with some nice roastiness all around. Roasted bitter coffee taste up front with dark chocolate. Alcohol is faintly apparent through the finish. Creamy mouthfeel. Solid.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 oz bottle poured to snifter. Sits black, very thin tan head caps the beer. Aromas of char, toasted, dark fruit, molasses and a wafting alcohol. Taste is nicely balanced anise, coffee...with hints of bitter baker;s chocolate, dark fruit, caramel/toffee....some molasses and vanilla push some sweetness towards the back and allow for some hops to swoop in on a bitter finish. Good stuff, if not a bit "safe" for my tastes! Ha!

Bottle Coffee, light wood ash, cocoa malt, and alcohol aroma. Dark brown with large tan head. Sweet chocolate malt, coffee ground, and moderately bitter herb and ash flavor. Decent body. Good but not very complex.

Great beer. This beer really doesn’t have anything that’s a miss. It’s caramel malt really shines through. It’s tasty and smooth and a great overall ale. Dark pour with a brown/white head. Good lacing. I have had this and the bourbon barrel aged version and truly prefer this one. Enjoy my friends.

A great extra from jsquire. This is a dark liquid, quite an aroma of intense coffee and dark chocolate. A little sweet, with a serious bite of bitter roastiness. Some alcohol burn. Very nice imperial stout.

"via trade with Cory. 2010 batch. lots of roasty toasty aroma and flavor. a little chocolate, licorice, coffee, and a present but slight hoppiness. pretty smooth at 9.7% though more tingly than the Fat Dog. overall, a nice beer, but not one that blew me away as i was hoping it would."

Sweet with some nice brown sugar and slight coffee notes. I can see why people like this one so much.

Aged bottle served in a snifter at cellar temp. Pours oil black with a short brown head. Short retention and minimal lace. Nose has a sweetness too it, not berry, but toasted caramel, licorice, with wet hay and grass. The flavor is quite bitter and roasty, minimally sweet. Turns quite bitter, roasted and dry. Full body, soft carbonation, creamy texture and a very long finish.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours thick and black with a crimson blush you can see if you hold it to the direct light. Fat head of creamy chocolate colored foam that falls slowly and leaves sticky clinging lace. Noe is cherry and chocolate. The sweetness of the chocolate covered cherry. Roasted malt with a bit of cold bitterness. Sweet underpinnings form malt. A hint of char. Taste is smooth creamy and milky. A bit of french roast coffee and not as much chocolate come over the palate slow and sultry with plenty of full malt softness behind it. A touch of the roast and the bitter. A hop bitter too. Finishes dry and with a bit of crispness that seems to be in defiance of all the milky creaminess. I love this. it’s bitter from both roast and a bit from hops and finishes to accent the light touch soft sweetness and sweet chocolate . Some heat from alcohol resonates and a touch of grass comes up for a brief flash .
