Bottle. Tons of coffee in the smell and taste, a lot more than expected. Very sweet, though I guess maybe that shouldn’t be so surprising.

Pours a clear caramel color with decent lacing. Minimal aroma of peat, toffee, and caramel. Caramel and toffee flavor with hint of earthiness. Thin body for style. A bit weak on the flavor.

Bottle pours light brownish red with foamy light tan head. Aromas of grain, flowers and sweet malt. Taste is plastic tasting some malty overtones. The body on this is way too thin for the style. Overall, not a great scotch ale.

Bottle from Half Time. Pours very dark amber with a slight creamy beige head. Aroma is lightly smoky caramel. Near full bodied. Flavor is a bit thin, but there is some light smoke, some toffee aspects, and it’s got some bitter in it. Pleasant.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 SSSteve (3379) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - OCT 30, 2011
bottle from mix pack. clear copper with small white head. nose is subtle toffee and black tea. nice toasted buttery caramel flavor. low hops and fitting abv that doesn’t get in the way. medium body and smooth. no peaty smoky notes but it’s any easy drinking and highly palatable scotch beer.

The aroma is earthy, peat, smoke, caramel. The appearance is clear red/brown, off-white head. The flavor is like the aroma, less earth and more caramel. The finish is resiny, piney hops. Medium in body. Not bad at all.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 jcr (1946) - Jasper, Indiana, USA - SEP 21, 2011
Bottle. Brown body with a short, tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, caramel, earthy peat. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Roast/coffee dryness. Medium body, watery texture, average carbonation. The aroma and flavor are dominated by the roasted malts, though not overly strong. Tastes an awful lot like a roasty brown ale. Less sweet than many Scotch ales. Not complex, but pleasant tastes of roast, peat with a little tobacco thrown in.

Pours a coffee brown with a very thin carmel head. Smells of roast (almost of coffee) with a bit of caramel. Somewhat sweet with the fait hint of bitter. Not much too this beer. I’ve only drank coffee once, but based on the smell of coffee I would say it drinks like a light roast of coffee with a hint of milk. I guess if you’re a coffee drinker you would love this beer especially if you need an evening cold beverage in the winter.
3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 FROTHINGSLOSH (3977) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 22, 2011
I am not a huge fan of this style but this one really impressed me +++ Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark caramel-brown color with a medium sized foamy tan head that faded fairly quickly and left a bit of lacing. The aroma was tangy caramel, sweet malts and a bit of nut. The flavor was tangy caramel, sweet malts, light butterscotch and hints of wood and tobacco. The finish was long, sweet, malty and had lingering caramel. Well done.
