3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours tea-like with a quick off-white head that fades rapidly to a ring and an island.
Scent is mild....toffee....dry hay/grass.
Taste is very subtle..caramel/toffee without excess sweetness...grassy dryness..malt.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Glowing, mostly translucent amber. Nose is super bready, some caramel, pretty much spot on what I smell in many American made scotch ales. Some are smokey, this one is not. Flavor is caramel, light toffee, bread, and an earthy bitterness. Kinda watery palate. Kinda like a scotch ale on training wheels.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Quite malty and a sweet with caramel, nut, and a hint of cocoa. Smooth finish and full body, though not at all heavy. Very nice.

2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Dark amber with an out-of-control head and spotty lace. The taste has sweet caramel malt with an odd overtone of pruney anise.
The finish is hurt by a general lack of any bitterness. Not a very good brew, especially with so many Thirsty Dog winners to drink instead.

2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Ok beer. It was malty with caramel spice and earthiness. The aroma was slitly doughy.

2.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Malty Ale that lacks the earthy peat flavor I enjoy in a Scottish Ale. The roasted malt and bitterness are no more than a whisper. Decent Buckeye State session beer.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Poured into a lager glass from a bottle. Appearance is underwhelming, it pours a dark amber to brown with a beige-ish head that dissipates to a soapy looking froth laying lazily on top of the beer. Aroma is definitely malty. I get sweet vanilla, some toasted bread, some nuts. Maybe a touch of leather in there as well. As it warms, the aroma develops a bit. to showcase the more roasty side. Taste is earthy, leathery, roasty. It’s sweet, but not overly so. The mouthfeel is somewhat chewy, leaving the tongue a little dry after the swallow. Spritzy carbonation. A little thin on the back end of the drink, maybe I’m a little off, though. This is definitely a nice session beer. Low alcohol, loads of flavor. I can think of a few people I would recommend this beer to.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
From the 12oz bottle purchased at The BeerHive in Pittsburgh. Immediately impressed with the smooth qualities and the tempered sweetness which tends to run to the high end on other Scotch Ales. As expected, low foaming and light carbonation, but unexpectedly, a weakness in the density of the beer left me wanting the same recipe in a beefed up version.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draft. Pours a dark brown/orange body with a small tan head. Aroma has a slight peat smell to with moderate malt and notes of caramel. Taste has a smooth texture with soft carbonation, to thin for the style. Certainly not a bad version of the style though.
