Bottle. Caramlization is nice, but seems to have a bit of an infection, thin, super carbonated, odd.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
12 oz. bottle from ryanmcfly1985- thanks again, Ryan! Pours a cloudy reddish brown with a small khaki head that settles into a film and ring. Notes of toasted malts, leaves, earth, and brown sugar. Very simple and earthy. Light-bodied, with moderate carbonation. Not a whole lot to say; just an easy, drinkable Scottish ale.

12 oz bottle served in a glass mug
Pours dark brown, clear, with a well proportioned and very durable tan head.
A load of smoke in the nose but more subdued in tasting where more molasses and dark fruit notes come out. High levels of roasted barley in both the nose and taste.
Good carbonation and adequate body.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 ounce bottle into pint glass, no bottle dating. Pours lightly hazy deep ruby red color with a 1-2 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with some moderate streaming carbonation. Aromas of caramel, toast, biscuit, plum, brown sugar, nuttiness, light chocolate, floral, herbal, and toasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready malt and light-moderate fruity yeast notes; with good strength. Taste of caramel, toast, biscuit, plum, brown sugar, nuttiness, light chocolate, floral, herbal, and toasted earthiness. Lingering notes of caramel, toast, biscuit, fig, plum, brown sugar, light chocolate, and toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice balance and complexity of dark/bready malt and light-moderate yeast ester flavors; with good robustness and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth and lightly creamy mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very nice Scottish ale. All around good balance and complexity of dark/bready malt and light-moderate yeast ester flavors; and very smooth to drink. A very enjoyable offering.
