Pretty smooth for a 12% scotch beer. 99 percentile I do not know. Dry aged peaty. Good bourbon aroma. A bit light mouthfeel, but smooth. Very dark brown with light head and lace.

Pours a deep copper, with no head to speak of. Looks a bit flat. Aromas of booze, dark fruits, molasses and wet oak....maybe a bit more booze too. Taste is dominated by the barrel character. Wet oak and booze. Thin on the palate for the amount of booze that cuts through. Was hoping for a bit more molasses sweetness and thickness here to round things out. Some dark fruits poke their heads out but their appearance is short lived because, well, booze dominates the back end too. I may be a bit harsh here, but I was expecting more character and depth. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy booze, so this wasn’t a bad beer by my tastes.....but compared to others of the same ilk, it fell short.

Draft at the growler NYC . Pours a deep purple brown color. Taste is sweet and malty with a rum taste of booze and booze. More like a syrupy thick barley wine. Decent after dinner sipper ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Clear dark amber pour with a deep dark ruby cast. Nice head and lacing that retains for 3 minutes. The nose is bourbon over sweet dark fruit, mostly plum and raisin, coupled with notes of vanilla, caramel and oak over molasses. Almost full bodied with a very rich creamy texture. The superb flavor profile is complex, yet balanced. Unlike Founder’s Backwoods Bastard, bourbon doesn’t predominate. You get a complex balance of bourbon against the flavors of the nose. It begins with the dark fruit, progresses to the caramel and molasses based sweetness, then bourbon and the associated vanilla and oak notes. The finish is a smooth bourbon forward sweetness counter balanced with an oak astringency that flows into that nice alcoholic burn at the back of the throat. Compared to FBB, the Wulver wins by a nose for the Wee Heavy title.

Dark brown pour. Absolutely zero head. Aroma of vanilla, figs, dark fruit, and barrel. Taste is vanilla bean, cherries soaked in booze, wood, and caramel. This is one of the best scotch ales.

Fresh bottle. Pours murky brown with heavy caramel borders. Thin head. Aroma is plum, dark fruit. Taste is boozy - very boozy. Some caramel, huge hit of bourbon. Maybe the most bourbon-y (forgive me) I’ve seen so far. Interesting. Definitely a sipper.

Pours a thick murky brown with a creamy off white head. Aroma is nice, sweet caramel and butterscotch. Taste backs this up, along with some vanilla and a bourbony kick. Pretty sweet and super smooth.
