2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Pours a clear amber body with a mimimal fizzy beige head. The nose is a little sweet with a little caramel, toasted malt, and a hint of corn, slightly grainy. The flavor is overly sweet with too much corn flavor to make it a passable attempt at a craft brew. Reminds me a bit of Yuengling Lager in that sense. Lingering sweetness on the finish unfettered by any bitterness makes for a not so wonderful combination. Light to medium bodied with a bit too much clingy stickiness from the residual sweetness. A decent deal as far as the ship goes, a bit cheaper and larger than most of the other macro crap options.

1.1 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 2/20
Location: Draft on a Carnival ship, 7/8/13
Aroma: The nose was an over-the-top sweet mess, caramel and residual sugars
Appearance: It poured a reddish color with a beige head, the standout portion of the beer
Flavor: The taste, like the nose, is a mess of sweet malts and off flavors with no balance
Palate: The body was light-medium, with a watery, macro-like feel
This one was a complete and total mess, crazy sweet, and basically just terrible. Drain pour level bad. Needless to say, I only has one.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Draught on board Carnival Splendor. This fine amber ale is only available on board selected Carnival cruise ships. Pours a coppery red colour with a low beige head. Strong malt and caramel aromas are very pleasant as is the flavour.

Tap on the Carnival Liberty. Clear amber. No head. Taste and smell like Budweiser aged on Fruity Pebbles. Light bodied. Weak.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
I drank this aboard the Carnival dream on 11/28. I had a fairly decent malty aroma. It had a light head and an light amber color. The blend of malts and overall flavor was decent.

2.3 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Appearance: the beer is a clear amber color, pours with a medium off white head
Aroma: very faint, hard to pick up much, possibly a very faint hint of industrial lager
Taste: gentle caramel malt sweetness, nutty
Palate: light mouthfeel, average carbonation, slightly sweet aftertaste
Overall: nothing very special about this but it is drinkable, just a bit bland,

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
On tap on a Carnival cruise. Pours a deep amber with thin off white head. Little to no aroma. Malty sweetness with not much of a finish. Pretty average but more flavor than I would expect from AB.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 13/20
Served on-tap on Carnival Destiny. Bartender gave a very gentle pour that left no head whatsoever, but brought the beer up to the very edge of the glass. Very nice amber/red in the glass with faint bready/malty aroma going on. Understated bitterness at first, leading to a malty sweet finish. Not particularly noteworthy and not something I would have on the shore, but for $5.50 a pint in a world where a bottle of Bud Light goes for $6.75, this should be the go-to drink for anyone craving a solid beer on a cruise.
