Our brewmaster Norm Pennís signature beer, hence CocoNorm. This Robust Porter is brewed with freshly shaved, lightly toasted, organic coconut. It has been compared to bathing in a coconut waterfall with a bevy of naked women. Donít let the sweet, mouth-watering, Mounds-like aroma fool you; CocoNorm is smooth, easy drinking, and the masterly blended coconut flavor will delight and amaze you.

From the brewery, this pours dark mahogany into the glass with a 2-finger tan head that leaves chunky lacing. The sweet nose is of a Mounds bar, with plenty of chocolate and coconut. Flavors have deep malts, sweet coconut, a hint of chocolate-covered coffee beans, and finish with a curt dark chocolate. The medium body meets a zesty mouthfeel for an easy pull. Very nice and seductive. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Sample at Thirsty Monk. Dark brown color with a medium foamy beige head that recedes steadily to an outer ring. Stringy lacing. Aroma of malt, chocolate and coconut. Medium body with flavors of roast malt, coconut and mild chocolate. The finish is toasted coconut and malt. Pretty good overall.

Pint at Biltmore Thirsty Monk. Really tasty porter. Coconut is there, but subtle and appropriate. I am still, at heart, a purist and found myself wishing for this porter sans-coconut, but well done for what it is. Nice porter-ish notes- roast, dark chocolate, coffee and a bit of smoke. Toasted coconut rounds it out nicely. Almost perfect weight, great smooth mouthfeel- especially as pint warmed up. Lacking a bit in appearance- no head on this one but suitably opaque for a winter beer. Good.
