3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 3fourths (6939) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - JAN 5, 2013
draft. yeast nose of shallot / onion / garlic and must, which seems odd given the hop bill here, but that’s how it is. perfumed / musty citrus pith and spiced sweet vegetable hop aroma with large dose of yeast. high bitterness, medium acidity, low carbonation, mostly smooth texture other than the spicy hop acid. my overall opinion is that it’s muddled and muted but the undertones of garlic / vegetables tells me I wouldn’t enjoy much a cleaner version.

On tap at Black Sheep Lodge. Pours a clear orange color with a small white head. Tried to work up a little more but it was being difficult. Aroma is right off fresh hops. Lots of citrus and piney notes in this. Fresh and sappy. Flavor is fresh hops with spicy citrus and pine. Tree sap leads to bitter notes and a very dry hoppy finish. Also has some sweet notes in it towards the end, especially as it warms a bit. Candied floral hops perhaps? Not bad for such a young brewery.
