Reddish brown, beige head. Nice sweet aroma with notes of caramel. Flavour is quite sweet too but also very spicy. The first impression was quite disappointing but the beer improved quite a lot. Don’t do drink it too cold. The finish is surprisingly dry and bitter with some citric notes (not like American hops though). Interesting stuff but I definately think the Limfjordporter is better even though the label claims that "Klemme" thinks this is his best beer yet.

Thisted Brewery lies somewhere in between micro- and macro, depending on definition and where you are from in thw world. But rest asure this is a brewery to be taken seriously. Not only do they father the greatest Baltic Porter (Limfjordsporter) and one of the best Danish Pilsner types (Organic Thy Pilsner), but they make this lovely traditioinal Ale by default like it’s nothing to be spoken of. I have the outmost respect for this danish brewery, as they can’t seem to do nothing wrong, and what they do right, they do really, really well. Jule Stenøl (Yule Stone Brew) is made by old Viking tradition, something to do with laying glowing hot stones in the kruid, using it as a heating source. It supposedly makes the malt taste more ’sugary’ in the end, and even though this brew ain’t exactly sweet, it does deliver on those malty flavours. It is a very dark brew, almost stout-like, sweet and malty at first but then it gets bitter and bitter-like. A very strange kind of beer, that you either love or detest. I say, as a lover of anything well crafted, this is indeed a beer with what you should at least pamper yourself at least once

---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

(Bottle, 0.5 l - BB 210814, at Pikkulintu, 20131208) The beer poured very dark brown and clear. Its head was medium sized and almost white. Aroma had malts, molasses and roasted malts. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were malts, molasses, roasted malts, grassy hops and low bitterness. Aftertaste was malty and bitter. A nice malty brew but there was some unpleasant unbalancedness.

Bottle. Pours clear dark copper brown with a ruby shade and airy light beige head. Clear aroma of malt, fruit and caramel, with a note of roast. Sweet, malty and caramellish aroma, with notes of fruit and very well pronounced touches of alcohol. Slightly bitter finish. OK but rather boozy for the style.

Bottle. Pours dark, brown hazy colored with medium, but short lasting beige head. Sweet malt at nose, with burnt caramel and spice. Flavor starts as expected, with caramel, sweet brown sugar and malt, spices, and delightful semi-long bitter finish. Medium bodied, smokey feel, oily with soft-average carbonation. Clear warmness of alcohol to finish it off.
