Clear, orange body. Thin, vanishing white head. Smells like a helles/export-style lager; medium roasted malts and some hops with a slight metallic touch. Taste is very strange; a kind of molded maltiness with a touch of bitter lager hops in the background that never quite leaves the rather oily palate. I think this is my first heller bock, and I’m not quite impressed. This is like a strong lager with a bit of extra malts and some weird funky undertones. Unfortunately, this time around I don’t mean "weird" and "funky" in a good way - this is rather in the not-so-good-department. I know Thisted Bryghus can to better than this, and it has absolutely nothing to do with the Scandinavian Christmas beer tradition.

Amber with a huge head. Malty aroma with notes of caramel and biscuits. The flavour is sweet and dominated by the malts, with a metallic and alcohol marked finish.

Hansen (6634) - Assentoft, DENMARK - NOV 27, 2009
Golden colour and clear. Has a white head, mostly diminishing. Yeasty aroma, faint hoppy notes too. Flavor starts lightly sweet and finish bitter, a kind of odd bitterness. Sharp. Perhaps also some faint spicy notes. Dry texture.

Nothing special. A little odd aroma and flavor, but mostly a little more than a ordinary beer. Christmas-beer? No Christmas in this beer.

Bottle, bought @ Havnens Vin & Tobak, Vejle.
Pours clear copper with a medium, frothy, off-white head. Sweet malty aroma, fruity, some oranges, some syrup and caramel. Low carbonation, fine mouthfeel. Flavour is sweet, caramel, vinious. Some citric bitterness. Not impressive.
Earlier Rating: 12/28/2005 Total Score: 3.1
A fresh beer, that has to be enjoyed at higher temperatures. Slightly hoppy for a Christmas beer, lending it a good bitter feeling accompanied nicely by the spices.
