sayravai (4708) - Helsinki, FINLAND - JUL 28, 2009
(Bottled, BBE 30.4.2009) Almost black with a smallish but velvety and lacy, beige head. Salty licorice i the aroma with chocolate and coffee notes. Flavor of roasted, lightly burned malt, lots of salty licorice and some sweetish caramel. Medium body, slightly foamy carbonation. A somewhat straightforward, but very enjoyable and clean porter. Didn’t notice at first, that this was almost a vintage bottle (bought from a supermarket in Helsingør :)

larsga (7293) - Oslo, NORWAY - JUN 10, 2009
Biggish coarseish brown head doesn’t last. Opaque black body. Licorice and paint remover aroma with chocolate notes. Dry-sweetish chocolate taste with licorice and alcohol notes. Mid-to-thin body. Dry sooty metallic aftertaste with ink notes. Kind of a curate’s egg, but in the end I didn’t like it much. (0.5l bottle, Dagli’Brugsen, Stenstrup.)

Bottle. A light smell of alcohol and dark malt, some hints of nuts, a rather soft aroma. The head is small, brown and fast disappearing. The body is black. The taste is light bitter, the finish is light metallic. The body is creamy-oily with a normal carbonation and a light to medium body. A nice Porter.

Ungstrup (34315) - Citizen of the universe, DENMARK - APR 12, 2009
Bottled. A black beer with a slight brown shine under a thick dark brown head. The aroma is sweet with quite strong notes of beech wood smoke as well as notes of roasted malt, and some licorice. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of roasted malt, and lesser notes of smoke, licorice, and wood, leading to a dry rosted finish.

yngwie (16503) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - MAR 31, 2009
Bottle from trade with Maria. It’s looking just lovely in the glass, with a dense tan head sitting on an opaque black body. Some licorice blend in with mocha coffee and some dried fruits in the aroma. Chocolate, some notes of salty licorice, coffee and dried fruits in the flavor. Full-bodied, slightly warming and dry mouthfeel. Dry, coffee and chocolate finish with some hoppy bitterness. Really delicious. (090327)
