Pours clear amber with a finger of tan head. Aroma has some faint caramel malt character to it but the rest just seems to be some musty yeastiness. Flavor is not much of an improvement. I try to pick out at least one part of the palate that is enjoyable, but can’t really find any. This is a sub-par amber.

Tap takeover at Matthews Beer Temple. Very average amber ale. Well balanced but not memorable at all. Pass.

Pours a clear amber with a bit of lacing. Spices, brown sugar on the nose. Roasted malts, molasses, hints of sugar. A really unexceptional amber ale. The worst Thomas Creek beer I’ve tried so far.

12 oz bottle; undated. Pours a clear deep reddish amber. Has a smallish off-white head that leaves little lacing. The aroma is rather light, but has a promising mix of toasted malt and spicy hops. As anticipated, the flavor is neither bold nor strong but, like the aroma, is a well balanced mix of hops and malts, with the hops in the background. Sweet up front, then becoming balanced by the finish. M: medium-light body; adequate, if a bit light, carbonation. O: an easy drinking beer. Recommended for fans of this style.

Hazy copper color, small tan head. Sweet, malty, cardamon scent. Sweet, malty taste. Fizzy mouthfeel, medium bitterness.

Pours brownish amber with a thin beige head. Medium bodied, a touch sweet, more malt than hops on the finish. Seems to have some funk mixed in there too

Smells of toasty nut flavors. Appears rich golden amber color. Tastes like a full bodied maltier amber ale with chocolate and some toasted nut tones. Pleasing on the palate, a bit hoppy on the finish which I tend to like. Overall a great amber ale in my opinion.

A rich dark red. Lightly sweet with a hint of caramel. Malt is not over powering. I’d give it ’Best in Class’ without hesistation.

Bottle from Wegmans, listed at 6.8%. Not sure if the recipe changed or the information is wrong on RB. This pours a deep amber with a small off white head that quickly dissipates to a film. The aroma on this has a subtle hop presence but is very malty, dominated by sweet caramel. The taste is insanely sweet caramel, a pound of malt, followed by a very light piney hops presence. I prefer my amber’s more hoppy but this is acceptable, I guess.

Sample at SBWF 2013. Sweet and malty smell. Mostly sweet and malty taste but also some hops. Full body. Malty and hoppy beer.

12oz bottle into a pint glass. Pours a clear deep dark copper with a one finger white head. Decent head retention with some ok lacing. Aroma if of burnt toffee, caramel, and a touch of roasted malt. Some earth and tree bark but not much at all in the way of hops in the aroma. The taste is very heavy on the toffee and caramel. Fairly sweet with molassass and burnt sugar. Some biscuit and tree bark. Light bitterness and a sweet, sticky mouthfeel. Overall, not very impressed with this one. Too sweet and heavy and just not a lot of depth to the flavor. Not one I’ll pick up again.
