UPDATED: APR 25, 2013 Growler… Pitch black pour with a small, creamy, well-tanned head. Decent retention. The aroma is reminiscent of a Dunkelweizen or possibly even a Weizen Bock; only the banana component is more pronounced here and there’s no clove phenol to go with the plentiful, dark, chocolaty malts. Full-bodied with a lightly creamy mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. The flavor offers dark chocolate, loads of banana and whispers of fudge, tobacco and molasses. Remarkably well-balanced. Finishes deeply roasted and lightly bitter. Muchos kudos to Elliesbrown for shipping this surprisingly good beer my way!

750 ml bottle to oversized snifter (Shared with the Mrs.). Abv is listed as 7.5% and the IBU is 52. Full name (as it appears on the bottle) is "Thomas Creek Banana Split Chocolate Stout". Looks good; black with foamy beige head that dissipates into lacing fairly quickly. Smells decent; as the name suggests with dark malt and hop notes. Tastes like it smells, only better, with a nice, smooth mouthfeel and a well-balanced banana presence. A solid take on the style.

pours dark brown almost black with no head. Aroma of bananas and thats about it, very banana forward. Taste follows, crazy banana presence with a hint of chocolate in the finish. Very thin for a stout, not loving the mouthfeel. Kind of gimicky but glad to have tried it

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draught. Pours a near black color with a thin tan head. Nose is heavily laden with banana. Taste is the same - there is little else to the beer aside from the banana. Fun gimmick, not a great drink.

Sweeter one here. The fruit notes are second to the chocolate but they provide nice support.

On tap at Capone's in Norristown, PA. Good flavor, but way too sweet to warrant an entire bottle/glass, which is saying something since I generally welcome "dessert stouts."

Also at Capone’s Thanksgiving event. Here is the dark side of the banana, if you please. This has lots of tangy, aromatic banana flavor, which blends in nicely with the mellow stout flavors. I look forward to trying more releases from Thomas Creek.

Draft at Capone’s Black Friday event. Poured a pitch black body with an average ense foamy dark beige head. Aroma of rotting bananas, dark chocolate, wet toast, marshmellow, dark fruit skins, dark chocolate cake batter. Medium/full body with full carbonation, a lingering bubbly carbonation and aftertaste. Flavor of rotting banans, roastiness, dark burnt toast, slight dirty coffee and some chocolate. Interesting stuff.

On tap at Capones. Murky black pour with coffee colored creamy head. Aromas and taste are bannana candy, roasty coffee, chocolate, and figgy raisins. Very light carbonation with a soft palate. Interesting brew.
