750mL bottle, caged and corked. Corked with a synthetic cork, the longest Iíve seen and hardest to remove. Black pour, brown head. Aroma of burnt grains. Tastes of charred malts, burnt grain, licorice bitterness. No detection of banana, except for maybe some banana peel bitterness. Sharp lingering roasted bitterness lingers on the palate for a while. Not what I was expecting, perhaps more chocolate, less roast, sweeter and less dry. Oh yeah, and banana.

the most difficult cork ever. near black with ruby highlights and a very small tan head. light coffee and dark chocolate nose. the flavor has lots of chocolate and roasty malts, lesser notes of coffee and booze. mild notes of unripe banana show after it warms but are very hard to pick up before warming. carbonation is on the sharp side for me. medium body.

Color is black, almost flat, headless. The aroma is not too heavy, rum, brandy, and burnt sugar. Slight roasted bananas, caramel. Flavor is mostly caramel and hot fudge, like a lighter version of the Southern Tier Creme Brulee. Really tastes of Bananaís Foster more so than a banana Split. Shared at Curtisís (Nashvilleís Sweetwarer Representative) tasting.

Sampled at an esbls tasting. Rich thick pour. A tan head. Black! I smell stout but nothing else. It tastes like a stout, too. Kind of disappointing in that it has no banana or cream. Still, it is good. Light chocolate and roasted notes.

Smoky, chocolaty aroma has a strong overtone of banana - hey, I love bananas. It pours a deep, warm sable with a decent tan head that doesnít last but leaves some decent lacing. Smoky flavor has chocolate and banana notes - banana split indeed! - plus hints of caramel, bread and coffee. It is a little sweet, but not cloying, and rather lip-smacking. Smooth, heavy texture is a bit syrupy and somewhat fizzy, leaving a satisfying smoky, tingly finish with a strong banana note. Go bananas over this one!

Aroma is bready and malty. The flavor is malty and a bit of bananas and a hint of chocolate. Not too bad, the bottle is a pain to open though.

750ml bottle - Olde Crabapple Bottle Shoppe in Alpharetta, Georgia. A pesky bottle to get into. The wire on the cage had been way over twisted, I just had to cut it off. The rubber cork was crammed too far into the bottle, requiring a wine open to wrestle it out.

Appearance: Slips out a black body with a couple of inches worth of craggy, tan-hued foam.

Smell: Sweetish, smelling of shaved semi-sweet chocolate, but also roast and just-cut, ripe bananas. Lesser notes of dark, plum-leaning fruits and caramel.

Taste: Sweet, roasted malts with flavors of chocolate syrup, caramel, smoky-toned molasses, burnt toast, and modestly roasty coffee. A few dark fruits to latch onto, but, then the banana comes in. Itís a bit slight, for me itís ample, but, with a yellow label and a big-ass banana-woman hybrid, you may be left wanting a bit more. Again, it was enough for me. Then, as the banana slowly dies away, itís back to the chocolate coated roasted grains until the smooth, yearningly creamy finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium-full body. Medium carbonation. Smooth, soft mouthfeel.

Overall: Itís not overtly banana-esque, like that Wells Banana Bread Beer, as the subtler banana inclusion has some strong, roasty malts to compete with for your attention. I enjoy it - passable banana flavors over a solid stout.

Pour is dark brownish black with a nice off white head, aroma has notes of some chocolate, toffee, and hints of vanilla, and a slight hint of banana in there as well. Taste was not quite as good as Iíd thought, banana slightly in there but really just chocolate, vanilla and toffee making a sweet slightly dry stout.

On draft at Cigar City for Fruit in the Room 2011. Pours a lighter stout brown with a white-ish head. Nose is some chocolate, some banana, and some cocoa, slight roast, and a hint of bitterness. Flavor is similar, but the chocolate and cocoa are a bit bullied by the banana flavor. The balance here is banana chased with stout and not playing nicely with each other. Light to medium in body and a finish with some banana.
