COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Crisp and citrusy, this India Pale Ale derives its atypical dark copper brown color from malted chocolate wheat. Heavily hopped, the Chocolate Orange IPAís bitterness blends with the dark chocolate flavors of the cocoa nibs added during fermentation. Those subtle chocolate notes rest behind a floral bouquet, enhanced by additions of bitter orange peel and dry hopping with Citra.

Sample at ÷rebro ÷l & Whisky 2014. The smell was a mix of hops, chocolate and oranges. Similar taste. Nice blend of chocolate, malts and hops.

Bottle. Moderate malt aromas of roasted and caramel, pine for the hops, light soap for the yeast, with chocolate, toffee, and orange in the background. Head is large, frothy turning rocky, beige with excellent lacing and is fully lasting. Color is clear dark burgandy. Flavor starts slightly sweet and lightly acidic, then finishes lightly acidic and moderately bitter. Palate is on the fuller side of medium, oily with a soft to lively carbonation. An odd IPA, but the added chocolate and orange stand out without being overpowering.

12 oz bottle. (The Greenville Beer Exchange) Greenville, SC.
Dark reddish brown colour with a small light tan head. Chocolate, mild malt and mild fruitiness in the aroma. Closer to a stout than an IPA. The flavour is dark hops, moderate bitterness, mild chocolate and some maltiness. Completely flat, no carbonation whatsoever. A disappointment.

Tap takeover at Matthews Beer Temple. Better than I thought, for sure. This is not a fruit beer or specialty beer really, itís a black IPA and the other flavors are pretty subdued. Definitely interesting and well done, and if you ever feel the need to put fruit and chocolate in your IPA I would look for this beer.

Not really chocolatey, more of a roasted malt. Both that and the citrus are pretty tame. Which I guess is a good thing, if both were strong- along with this being an IPA- the beer would probably be a damn mess. It's tasty, but I was hoping for bolder flavors. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

bottle @ Habersham Beverage / Savannah GA --- Clear dark ruby brown color, persistent 1/2" tan head, cobwebs of lace. Taste is chocolate malt with a bit of orange that turns to light hops in a very long finish. Itís more like a strong stout than an IPA. Pretty easy to quaff, big chewy taste, it works for me.

Medium to dark brown pour with a tan head. The aroma has some orange citrus and chocolate notes in it, but the orange is fairly subtle. The flavor is similar. There is some chocolate, orange and pine as well as a low amount of bitterness. Thin mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Extra from flandersned-thanks, Steve! Medium brown. Nice nose of chocolate malts, suppose some orange citrus. Sweet, chocolately malts, and even bitterness from citrus hops. Figured this to be a train wreck, but pleasantly surprised even if I didnít love it.
