On tap at Caponeís. Poured a mahogany color with an off white head. Lacing left on the glass. Aromas of earth, roast, and chocolate. Tastes of citrus, chocolate, caramel, and some roast. Sweeter with the bitterness and hops taking a backseat - would not have guessed this was an IPA.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Murky brown pour, pretty foamy. Smelled like cheap chocolate candy people give out at Halloween. Taste had some hops that gave a citrus presence. Strange, I thought it might be a disaster but it worked alright.

bottle. Brown with two finger head. Very malty IPA, not nearly to Black IPA standards, but malty nonetheless. Some chocolate. The orange is minimal at best. This sounded a lot more interesting than it ended up being, but not bad.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
An interesting beer, seemed to have had quite a few recently. Murky brown with a thick viscous retentive head. Aromas of chocolate there along with a significant hoppy aroma. Taste is a bit cloying until the hops hit. On the aftertaste taste more of the orange although it may be the hops. Tastes more like an imperial IPA.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
12oz bottle thanks to Ed5388, pretty sure he gave me this because he has a man crush on me but anyway. Poured a rather thin looking clear orange brown that is a touch lighter on the edges and a nice sized frothy super light beige head. Aroma of some nice chocolate upfront followed by fresh squeezed oranges, chocolate breads and citrus rinds. Medium body with stronger carbonation that makes this one a bit on the fizzy side and light bitterness that lingers on the finish. Flavor is similar to the aroma with notes strong orange rinds, well done toast, roastiness, lighter chocolate, bread crusts, chocolate milk foam. This is actually pretty darn good even though the name made me think this would be pure novelty.

Sample at the Beers from the Bikes Villes tasting on 11/08/2013. The beer is a slightly murky brown color with a medium thick foamy light beige head that recedes steadily. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of malt, chocolate and citrus. Medium-bodied with flavors of roasted malt, cocoa and citrusy hops. The finish is moderately bitter piney hops with a chocolatey aftertaste. Decent overall.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
12oz bottle, thanks to FlandersNed! Sticker on the bottle cap reads "5-13". Clear red / brown color, much darker than your typical IPA. One-finger thick light tan, sort of airy head, with good retention. Some sweet chocolate, lightly cloying. Not much citra hop character anymore, Iíd imagine this must have been much better fresh. A lot of big bitter taste, though, orange not that noticeable in the aroma. Medium to bigger body. Lighter, sort of rougher carbonation, with a dry texture. Interesting beer, but at this point, it seems to have fallen off. Just bitter taste, and chocolate, mostly. Finish has a light bite. Would have probably been much better fresh.

12oz bottle via 4 pack from The Wine Shoppe in Brick. Pours a dark amber/brown color with a huge frothy 4 fingers of tan head. Aroma of chocolate and caramel up front, followed by some sweet citrus. Taste of citrus, pine, orange peel, caramel, and roasted chocolate malt. Very interesting.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Poured from a bottle into an IPA glass. Orange aromas, with some citrusy hops, but pretty typical for an IPA. Itís very dark for an IPA. Iíd describe it as brown with an orange-red tinge. Creamy, off-white head. Really interesting flavors. Itís an IPA up front, with assertive hoppy bitterness, but as it fades away you get the porter-like chocolate flavors described in the namesake. This probably isnít a beer Iíd rush to buy a six-pack of if Iím looking for an IPA, but if youíre after a unique twist on typical IPAís thatís well done, look no further!
