Bottle. Pours a clear amber color with a big frothy head that fades very slowly. Looks like soap suds, leaves nice lacing. Aromas are caramel and toast with some earthy and floral hops. Taste is maltier than most IPA’s. Still fairly bitter though with a very low sweetness. Somewhat stale earthy, pine, and floral hops. The malt flavor is solid, caramel and toast. Finish is fairly smooth, malty aftertaste, slightly dry. Overall, an average IPA. Could use some more fresh hop taste.

Amber-orange with a small, yellow-tan head. Aroma is malty, toast, herbal/pine... Taste is toasted caramel, earthy hops. Bittering is mild. Decent.

12 ounce bottle. Hazy amber orange color topped by a medium-sized beige head. Spicy medicinal hop aroma. Tangy light toasted malt flavor. Dryish peppery hop mid taste. Brief dry hop finish. Only average.

12oz bottle poured into glass. This was just a very typical, run of the mill IPA. Hoppy floral aroma, nice malt backing while the hops are up front in the flavor.

Bottle from Fresh Market in Boca Raton, FL. American pint glass. Nice golden amber with thick off-white head. Aroma of pine, pine resin, malts and sweet flowers. Taste is more mild than expected. The hops are more bitter and mildew than the aroma. There’s a funky taste overall and the malts don’t balance the hops very well. Bitter, funky aftertaste.

Pours a clear, dark, amber with a thin white head. Aromas of earthy hops and caramel malts. Flavor has a good amount of spiciness and some dusty hops all the way down with some caramel malts also showing themselves. Overall not bad, but it’s not really standing out to me in any way, just a par for the course IPA.

fruity grapefruit citrus hop and scotch pine create some funk paired with the malt in this one. some sweetness near the finish and some bitterness but that butterscotch ear wax kinda mutes things a bit.

Bottle… Drank this one straight from the bottle on the way to the NASCAR season finale in Homestead, Florida. I have no clue what it looks like, but the aroma features toasty malts and spicy hops. Medium to full-bodied with tingly carbonation. The flavor leans just a hair toward the bitter side of balance. Stand-out characteristics include - toasted malts, bready malts, toffee malt infused with medium bitter hops. Finishes crisp with mild, lingering bitterness.

From bottle. Pours deep golden color. Aroma was malt, floral hops and booze. Taste follows. A good SC Double IPA offering.

Pailhead (3859) - Brownstown, Michigan, USA - DEC 17, 2012
Bottle: The aroma consists of moderate caramel, lighter fruit, light toasty notes, metal, and faint grapefruit. It pours a transparent copper with a two finger cream colored head with good retention. There’s a good amount of spotty lacing left on the sides of the glass. The flavor starts with moderate-heavy caramel and light fruit. The finish has light sweet citrus, toasty notes, earthy bitterness, and spice. It’s light-medium bodied with soft carbonation and mouthfeel. Overall, way too much caramel and very minimal hops are not what I want in an IPA.
