Pours yellow-amber. Soapy, beige head. Smoky, dry, low bitter. Surprisingly good beer in spite of my lack of description.

Backlog. Bottle at Tröls. One of my favourite American IPAs mostly because we’re not sacrificing any malt-aromas in order to bring forth the hoppiness.

undated 12 oz bottle served in a lager glass. Pours deep-amber. The tan head is large, creamy and thick for the style. Plenty of sticky lacing is left on the glass. Smell: Aromatic, with a surprising amount of bread dough mixed in with the floral/earthy hops and toasted malt. Rather malt forward for an IPA. T: The taste is rather malty, like the smell, but the spicy/earthy hops come through more. M: Medium bodied; nicely smooth; slightly dry finish. Excellent for style. O: A solid IPA coming from a reliable, if rather mainstream, brewer. Hoppiness will not satisfy some hop heads. {lightly revised with fresh bottle in Feb. 2014)

Caramel and grapefruit flavors, with only moderate hop bitterness. Hints of sour apples and toasted grain. Good flavors, just not enough of them. Very average IPA.

Poured from the bottle into a pint glass to drink. The beer had a semi-hazy dark amber color with a large, creamy, light tan head with good retention, cling, and lacing. Its aroma featured a blend of light caramel malt and sugar mixed with some earthy, grainy, and light citrus hop flavors. The beer was mostly bitter with flavors of grain and citrus, along with some straw and a lightly sweet maltyness. The beer had a fairly full mouthfeel with a thicker feel and was a bit dry with ample carbonation. Thank you to Siobhan for the Christmas present.

This is one of my favorite IPAs. Rich caramel flavors with a crisp citrusy hoppy taste at the end. Not overly hoppy and not incredibly alcoholic. A great session IPA.

Aroma - malt is somewhat muted under the resiny hops, you know this will be oily. The bark is bigger than the bite. Appearance - is a nice orange body with a full blown white head. The head dissipates, but leaves an amazing lace. Full on stockings!!! Whaaaat!!! Taste - the taste is a medium bitter, with a nice pine, some oil, and a dough malt. Palate - the body is medium, the texture on the oily side, the finish sort of abrupt for an IPA with only a mild bitter wave.

12oz bottle from Whole Foods in Greenville, SC. Copper-orange pour with a fluffy light tan head. Aroma of toasty malt, caramel, candy. Tastes on the sweet malty side also - with citrus and light pepper. Floral and slightly astringent in the finish. 6.0

Bottle from Total Wine in Stuart. Pours a golden orange with a white head leaving some nice lacing. Aroma has heavy sour fruits, with citrus and toffee. Somewhat earthy. Taste is of grapefruit, lemon zest, crystal malts and some sour fruits. Medium bodied and dry. Finishes bitter with some sourness. No date on the bottle so hoping it is just old and not bad. Not a fan.

It’s a good IPA, it just doesn’t seem all that original or different from what’s currently out there. Lots of good grapefruit flavor and a darker hue. That’ s about all that’s worth pointing out.
