4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a rich brown black with quickly receding head. Aromas are distinctively belgian with dusty banana, but clearly accentuating the dark fruit, raisin, molasses, coffee, & smoky, dark roasted grains. Palate is smooth and full, quickly becoming crisp & dry. Flavours continue with dark chocolate, syrup, coffee & hints of celery, grass, & honey on the finish. Very well crafted & enjoyable.

Pkured a dark rown color from the bottle with aromas of light chocolate, belgium yeast, some light fruit and bananas. Flavors are the same, thin in palate decent beer overall.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Dark mahogany with a small off-white head. Has a unique aroma and flavor that is hard to characterize. The flavor is sweet ... a bit too much so despite some tartness. Spicy, but without having much attractiveness or identity. More prune flavor than any beer I can remember.
O - A rich and interesting brew that I enjoyed more than one might guess from the description above.

3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Black with big, foamy, brown head / Acidic, sour, medicinal nose of orchard fruit, chocolate / Medium body, acidic and somewhat sour, grassy, with the delicate balance of some Belgians, but lacking the malts for a porter? / Flavors of grass, turning orchard fruit, cocoa, coffee, caramel, cinnamon, and nut / Don’t quite know what to make of this. Peculiar, but not without interest. Close to a Belgian stout. Ultimately, probably needs reworking.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: AUG 14, 2012 Paddle @ Mellow Mushroom. Dark frothy pour. Syrupy, sweet aroma balanced with porter like malt. Strong ale-like body with brett tones in a porter? Enjoyed this brew immensely, however. Thomas Creek creates some quality quaffable products.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
750 ml bottle thanks to Santa! Pours a pure black color with a small beige head. A nice nose of chocolate and cocoa, some ash and light straw. The flavor is pretty much a dead on big old porter with very light grains and banana. Dry, but not tart or funky. Pretty good. Very drinkable despite a bit of warmth. Nice.

2.3 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Really not impressed with this one. Sweet dark belgian candy and alchol overpowers everything. From a bottle. Smell is musty. Flavor makes this a miserable beer. Try again.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
750ml bottle from JCB, thanks Jason! Pours a very deep brown, ruby tinted, mostly black colored body with a finger-width, dense and creamy, brown head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is big raisin dark fruits with a nice chocolate and molasses malt sweetness. Belgian yeast, roast, and just a touch of licorice. Flavor is big raisin dark fruits up front with a touch of tartness and sweeter Belgian yeast. Molasses and cocoas come in during the middle as well as the roast before this finishes pretty dry from the roast and yeast with lots of fruit. Lengthy aftertaste following a medium-thin body and a moderate carbonation. Overall, an interesting beer. The fruit sweetness was a bit too much for me, but the molasses, cocoa, and roasts that came on towards the finish kept this enjoyable and drinkable. No hint of the alcohol and a somewhat thinner feeling body. Not bad.
