Malty with nut and toffee, though not too sweet. Crispness to the finish that comes with a mild hops flavor. Not bad overall.

3.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
More reminiscent of a dunkel than a doppelbock. Sweetish brew that pours flat (no head, minimal carbonation) with a very malty taste that leaves a sugary taste in the mouth. Was expecting more. I wish the American brewers were more truthful to the German styles....

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 11/20
A deep brown pour with a none sustaining tan head which quickly turns into a ring. The aroma is chocolate and malt with a hint of dark fruit. The taste is rich. I was afraid it might be overly malty - malassasy, but it wasn't that at all. Chocolate, coffee, nuttyness and plums all greet the pallet. The mouthfeel is medium and smooth. A wonderful beer!

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle from Blue Dog. Pours hazy deep chestnut with 1-finger frothy tan head. Nose is brown sugar, toffee, cacao, chocolate malt. Tastes malty, with backup hops, earthy nutty notes, and a complex breadth of flavor. This one is a nice lager than reminds me of a mid-level nut brown ale.

Pours dark brown with tan head. Aroma is dark fruit and sweet caramel malts. Flavor is sweet and well rounded with hints of prune and raisins. There is also a bit of smokiness as well as chocolate but the dark fruity flavors predominate.

Thanks to blutt59 for sharing this bottle.
The beer pours a deep red color with a tan head. The aroma is fairly sweet and has a lot of toffee and dark fruit notes. The flavor is similar, with some toffee and lightly roasted malt standing out the most. There is also a little bit of coffee. The beer is very dry overall. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a deep dark brown with a thin off white head that dissipates quickly. Aromas of roasted malts and some nuttiness. Taste has alot of the chocolate malts come out as well as some brown sugar and it also is a bit nutty as well. A bit watery on the back end but overall nothing that really takes away from this brew, and it is highly drinkable. One of my favorite offerings from Thomas Creek.

2.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 11/20
Chestnut brown color with an off-white creamy head. Minimal aroma of nuts, coffee, and caramel. Creamy palate with chocolate, caramel, and nut flavor with hint of coffee at the back end. Impressive presentation, but disappoints with someone weak flavor.
