3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle at Bishop’s Arms, Stockholm, Vasagatan
Dark brown color, clean, with some amber-red reflex, and medium sized beige compact head. The aroma is quite American, the yeast produced more fruity esters than a true German Bock; there is also some caramel and light roasted malt. The mouthfeel is lean, dry, partially smooth; roasted malt and dark caramel flavor, with a trace of liquorice.
A good beer, nothing to do with Doppelbocks (lighter, with a bit too much roasted malt, and the liquorice).

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Pours a clear dark brown with very little head on it. Nose is very malty with a lot of caramel malts in there. Taste is just a tad sweet and a tad roasty. Very smooth and light.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
Chewy grain and caramel aroma. Flavor is a touch of the same but a little thin for the style. This goes down easy but there is not a ton going on. Finish is slightly sweet with some red fruit flavors but again very faint.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle that had a different label than what is shown here on RateBeer,
the label reads 7% alc. not 6.25% alc.,
this lager had a clear dark ruby pour with dark brown at the sides of the glass, it had an initial one and a half finger light tan colored head, this beer left spots, fingers and partial rings of lacing on the sides of the glass, the bottle had no sediment,
this lager had big malt ‘melanoidin’ aromas with lots of toasted malt, faint chocolate and caramel, and a little brown sugar sweetness,
there were hints of roasted malt on the nose to,
the flavors were pretty much the same as the aromas, not as sweet as most of the Doppelbocks I have sampled,
the mouth feel was about medium, maybe a little less, there was some creaminess on the palate, and average carbonation,
a Doppelbock with a very malty nose and flavor.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pale in comparison to its German born kin, but still a decent brew. Caramel, nuts, and chocolate blend in the nose. The beer is a very deep brown with a small cream colored head. Sweet with a touch of roast based bitterness. Medium plus body with a surprisingly quick finish for this style.

Jus beginning to try craft beer, and i think this was a good starter. Much more flavor than commercial brews. A complex taste for me.
