Jus beginning to try craft beer, and i think this was a good starter. Much more flavor than commercial brews. A complex taste for me.

Malty with nut and toffee, though not too sweet. Crispness to the finish that comes with a mild hops flavor. Not bad overall.

More reminiscent of a dunkel than a doppelbock. Sweetish brew that pours flat (no head, minimal carbonation) with a very malty taste that leaves a sugary taste in the mouth. Was expecting more. I wish the American brewers were more truthful to the German styles....

A deep brown pour with a none sustaining tan head which quickly turns into a ring. The aroma is chocolate and malt with a hint of dark fruit. The taste is rich. I was afraid it might be overly malty - malassasy, but it wasn't that at all. Chocolate, coffee, nuttyness and plums all greet the pallet. The mouthfeel is medium and smooth. A wonderful beer! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from Blue Dog. Pours hazy deep chestnut with 1-finger frothy tan head. Nose is brown sugar, toffee, cacao, chocolate malt. Tastes malty, with backup hops, earthy nutty notes, and a complex breadth of flavor. This one is a nice lager than reminds me of a mid-level nut brown ale.

Pours dark brown with tan head. Aroma is dark fruit and sweet caramel malts. Flavor is sweet and well rounded with hints of prune and raisins. There is also a bit of smokiness as well as chocolate but the dark fruity flavors predominate.

Thanks to blutt59 for sharing this bottle. The beer pours a deep red color with a tan head. The aroma is fairly sweet and has a lot of toffee and dark fruit notes. The flavor is similar, with some toffee and lightly roasted malt standing out the most. There is also a little bit of coffee. The beer is very dry overall. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Pours a deep dark brown with a thin off white head that dissipates quickly. Aromas of roasted malts and some nuttiness. Taste has alot of the chocolate malts come out as well as some brown sugar and it also is a bit nutty as well. A bit watery on the back end but overall nothing that really takes away from this brew, and it is highly drinkable. One of my favorite offerings from Thomas Creek.

Pours a deep mahogany. Aroma is maple and caramel. Taste is sweet up front with a toasted nut finish. well balanced and strong without being overdone.
