Sample @ GPF 2011, Gothenburg. Black beer with a biege head. Tar, licorice, coffee and malty aroma and flavour. A nice beer :-)

Interesting. The aroma is malty with a umami flavor. The beer is black with fading tan head. The taste is soy with malt. The body is smooth but has an oddness to it.

The aroma is roasted with coffee and light chocolate malts. The appearance is dark brown with a good head. The taste is like the aroma. The palate is sort of thin. Overall a good beer.

Aroma: nice hoppiness, chocolate, licorice.
Taste: licorice, chocolate, citrus and grape, some berries maybe, quite bitter.

Sample @ Porterfestivalen in Gothenburg on November 19. Pours deep brown with a small chocolate brown head. Smell is subtle and slightly sweet with roasted malts, sweet fruits and molasses. Taste has roasted malts and coffee. It also carries a slight acidity.

Sample @ GPF 2011. Pours almost pitch black with a small bubbly brown head leaving laces. Aroma is madeira, raisins, roasted, sweet and floral. Flavor is sweet, vinous, a bit acidy, a bit phenolic, fruity, bitter and coffee. Finishes bitter malty with a nice touch of coffee.

12oz bottle split. Unfiltered deep amber-black color. Frothy, respectable head. Oily, resinous, dry, chocolate aroma, bitter. Medium bodied, quite drinkable. A touch of cherry, amber malt shines through. Pretty straightforward, but misses the mark a little. Unimpressive in it’s thin mouthfeel and the odd sour cherry tones. Still OK.

A dark brown porter with a thick lacing and frothy brown head. In aroma, a smooth herbaceous chocolate with nice grassy hops, very nice and smooth. In mouth, a nice caramelized chocolate, grassy and smooth, lightly vinous, very nice. On tap at Knoxville Brewer’s Jam, Oct. 22 2011.
