3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottled. This is extreme as the name states. A deep red beer with a dark tan head. The aroma has notes of hops, spices, and malt as well as a light note of caramel. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of hops lending it notes of spices, leading to a dry bitter finish. The mouthfeel is chewy.

Bottle 35,5 cl. Clear, warm nutty brown with a small, off-white head. Excellent aroma of burned caramel and nuts. Very full-bodied, sweet nutty accents, a little wood and vanilla and again burned caramel. Has a warming alcohol finish. No matter what they call it this is a straight and very good Barley Wine. 050211

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottled@Bishops Arms Vasagatan, Stockholm. Very deep ruby colour, small beige head. Bigtime hops and some alcoholic sweetness in the aroma. Flavour is fruity and floral sweet hops which balance very well with a quite malty body. Alcohol mixes in rather well with the big hoppyness. As it warms up it gets some slight honeyish notes as well.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottled at Bishop’s Arms Vasagatan, Stockholm. Clear mahogany colour, rich head. Arousing peach brandy and buttery malt fight for attention in the nose. The grapefruity hops remain a distant third. Sweet and full bodied with fairly soft, chewy mouthfeel. Plenty of butterscotch and caramel. Growing late bitterness. Peppery alcohol has a slight tendency to skew the balance in an otherwise harmonious huge beer.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle at Bishop’s Arms, Malmö, Gustav Adolf Torg
Mahogany color, bright, with red refles; small sized head. Strong aroma of caramel and malt, some phenol, then resiny hops. Strong body; very strong malt and caramel flavor, sweet, lasting till the end; powerful hopping too, very resiny; the malt-caramel character is dominant, but the hop and alcohol create a vague burning feeling in the end. Classic American-style Barley Wine, excellent.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
24th May 2010
Clear dark red - brown beer. Short lived tan head. Rich toffee nose. Semi dry palate. Dark toffee malt, subtle licorice, some minerals. The hops, when they finally emerge, are bitter grapefruit with a little tea. Finishes semi soft and dry, bitter aftertaste. A decent barleywine, not really an IPA eh? Less bitter as it warms up.
