COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Truly the local favorite: Our American Pale Ale is a consistent First Place winner of the annual Hartford Advocate Best of Hartford Reader’s Poll award for Best Micro Brew Beer. This extremely vivid ale stresses a crisp hop bitterness, lingering flavor and the aroma of distinctive West Coast ales. A caramel sweetness in the malt balances out the chock-full-of-hops flavor to yield a complex but quite refreshing, medium-bodied brew.

Malts: Canadian Row, Caramel 40L, Carapilis, Wheat Malt, Aromatic
Hops: Bittering (Zeus), Flavor (Zeus, Cascade), Aroma (Cascade)
Dry Hop: Cascade (at end of fermentation)

This is a amber colored beer, with a sticky white foam on top of the body. Fruity, floral hops invade the nose. This smells juicy and reminds me of Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. This brew starts off with a caramel flavor, then moves into bitter juicy hops. Fruity flavors prevail, grapefruit, and citrussy orange rind. This is a well balanced brew, and the hops never take the whole brew over at any point. From what I hear, this is still a work in progress. Paul Davis is still refining it, and he’s doing a great job. An excellent brew worth seeking out if in the CT area.

Ruby amber with rich tan head...floral and piney aroma...sweet thick malty body...creamy mouthfeel...I am surprised by the lack of hops in the initial mouthfeel...finish is where they came out, mildly...beautifully balanced and quite complex for an APA...Thanks Nuffield, this was a surprising treat!!

Color is a pale hazy coppery orange with a one finger high head of off-white-yellowy creamy fluff, faded slowly and sticks around for a long time, lace in small spotty sheets. Smell is a perfect moderate blend of roasty malts and floral/citric hops. Taste follows the smell with nicely balanced lightly roasty fresh malts and a floral, herb-like hop that lends very light citrus and a well balanced incredibly mild bitterness. All in all, very smooth and mellow. Solid medium body with just a hint of sharpness and quick little crisp dry finish with a bit of lingering hop in the back of the mouth. One very nice little brew, put together well and pleasingly drinkable

Pours a beautiful burnt orange. Inch of foamy, light head. Very malty, but with a light, crisp finish. Bitter and sweet balance each other well. Great beer from a great state.

UPDATED: MAY 7, 2004 Glad to see the brewery still up and running while they get someone else to try and run the restaurant side. The beer is a rich, copper color. A bit of head to it. Nice hoppy nose, with a hint of hops. Full taste of malts and hop bitterness. A well balanced brew. Re-rate (draught): Paul has continued to refine this beer. It seems to get better with every batch. They've just tweeked the bottled recipe to match what he makes in Hartford, so I would expect that to improve also.

Bottle: Hazy orange with a thin white head, flowers grass and rich grains in the aroma, smooth bodied with mellow carbonation, starts lightly sweet and ends lightly bitter, with a caramel aftertaste.
