Pre Bamberg bash tasting at Colin’s house with Mr Bois and James. Thanks to Colin. Clear brown - red beer, small pale tan head. Palate is minerally crisp. Lactose.and light chocolate drinking powder. Little tang. Minerally crisp finish. Overall a little artificial tasting but not unpleasant.

12 oz. bottle, fresh from the brewery. Dated 12/27/13. Pour is a dark brownish black with 1/2 finger of head which dissipates to a tan thin ring around the glass. Aroma is tons of chocolate, bitter and sweet with a creamy note and some coffee in the background. Taste is sweet dark chocolate up front with tons of coffee on the back end, and also bakers chocolate. Mouthfeel a bit thin for the ABV and the style considering the stong flavors. Pretty good beer though, the coffee however, does shine in the flavor more than you think it would given the aroma. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

A deep dark stout with a thin brown head. In aroma, sweet chocolate malt with cherries, powdery, milk and fruits. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity chocolate malt with light cherry, light sour barrel, nice. On tap at alewife.

Bottle thanks to a trade! Pours a clear deep brown with a gray head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a rich chocolate note with underlying earthy dark grains. Flavor has a lighter chocolate note with a backbone of earthy dark grains.

New Beer Distributors, NY 12oz ($2.25): Pours black with a brownish head. Aroma is light chocolate, sugar, roasted malts. Taste is much the same. Slightly sweet. Roasted malt flavor. Really smooth. Nice chocolatey undertone. I would have liked a little more chocolate, but in any case, this was a nice mellow stout.

Draft @ the Ale House in Amesbury. Tulip glass shows a black pour without any head. Nose is weak chocolates, roasted barley and ash. Taste is much the same. Got to say it also had a slight sourness in the flavor, dirty tap line?? Hard to know the origin of the sour Flavor. The body is mediocre leaning on the thin side. Having a hard time seeing what people like in this stout. Very plain. Disappointed.

Had on tap at the Ale House. Paid $6.00. To Boulevard tulip, it pours a deep purplish black-brown: trim vanilla cream, beige head half a fingernail in length. Smells and tastes of bitter chocolate, roasted malt, lactose, charcoal, and salted caramel. Drinkable, and smooth.
