COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
During 2007, an alliance based on friendship and love of great beer between Thornbridge’s Head Brewer Stefano Cossi and Brooklyn Brewery’s Garrett Oliver led to the brewing of this refined strong ale which has been matured for over 18 months before being bottled. The collection includes the unoaked Alliance Strong Ale and two finished exclusively in fortified wine casks: Spanish oak Pedro Ximenez Sherry (PX) and American oak Madeira. We hope you enjoy this unique tasting experience

@ Pre ZBF. The aroma has caramel, madeira, oak. hazy, orange coloured beer with an off-white head. The taste is sweet, has caramel, apple, orange, oak, madeira and a hint of vanilla. Good body, nice balance. For me the best Of the 2007 Alliance series.

Thanks to ibrew2or3 for this rare treat. A: Pours a nice shade of amber with a nice off white head. Pretty nice retention with some spotty lace. S: Aromas of sweet summer fruits, toffee, oak and vanilla. T: Fruity sweetness, with a nice candy sweetness. The barrel is a compliment here. Light vanilla with oak and a bit of booze. M: On the fuller side of medium, rich, smooth, sweet. D: Pretty good. A nice tasty rare barleywine. Thanks Dave.

37.5 cl bottle. Murky brown with a lacy bone head leaving swirls and spots of foam. Nose is musty oak, madeira and toffee. Sticky medium body with a mild sparkle. Taste is caramel, earthy red grape and vanilla. Finish is increasingly dry with madeira and lingering bitterness.

Tasted from the bottle at Kelly Ryan’s Thornbridge Tasting at the Malthouse. A wonderful seriously complex blend of oaky vanilla, smooth rich caramel, vinous fortified notes and warm fruity esters rejoice in the aroma. In the mouth the beer is rich but incredibly smooth for the strength, oak, vanilla, a tangy fortified wine note and a smooth long finish.
