Cask (Black Door, Helsinki)
Woh - welcome to the 80s. Nice twiggy brown bitter aroma. Brown, small head, typical for cask. Rich twiggy earthy taste - it’s not great, but it so brings back memories of 80s ales.Slight mushroomy retronasals. Nice little chocolae twist at the back of the mouth on swallowing. Very bitter, very very earthy. I can imagine some people hating this, but for me, this is a time machine. While the kegsplosion was taking place, a few proper beers like this forged on, and gave me the life and the lightness of real ale. Finish quite drying, very earthy. More balanced in the mouth than in the finish, and the finish might encourage you to go for something more thirst-quenching. Stll a decent brown ale, and a remarkable trip back in time.
