Cask - The Cask & Kitchen, London. Poured brown with a creamy, lasting tan head. Roasted malts and chocolate with those bitter citric hops coming through on the aroma. Smooth, nutty bitterness, lovely roasted malts and chocolate again on top of those biting hops. Soft and balanced palate texture with a nice amount of carbonation kicking it into gear. Lasting bitter malt/hop finish and medium in body.

Cask@The Marble, Manchester. Clear reddy brown colour with a thin off white head. Nose had well defined hoppage and sweet malts all in proportion as did the flavour which had notes of cherry and nuts ; leading to a bitter finish that hit the spot very nicely. Clean, understated and tasty. Usual top quality from Thornbridge.

Cask gravity, The Cock, Hemingsford Grey, en route to pinching a delicious but richly deserved point off The Lilywhites. Clear tawny with a beige collar resloving to a slick. Bags of fresh biscuity character; cherry, citrus, husky bitter linger. Fresh tangy sessions with soapy licks. Not enough syrup or sweetness to qualify as a brown ale- just a plain old English bitter to me, except a very good one. Up to the usual standards.
