3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
[cask at Craft N1] Black pour, thin white head. On the nose, huge amounts of thick, sweet chocolate – smells like an Easter egg. On the taste, more of that sweet, syrupy Easter egg choc, plus a touch of mocha, then mint that rises towards the end. Touch of the Vienetta’s – it’s mostly roasty and chocolatey. Faint minty background, sweet chocolate finish. Tastes very similar to Ayr Brewing Co’s Dr Blacklock that I *cough* had a hand in making. Chocolate syrup and peppermint oil went in that one – this one tastes as if something similar could have been used. Good beer though – but like the original Blacklock, gets a bit much after a while

4th March 2013
Craft Islington. Cask. Opaque dark brown beer, small bubbly tan head. Light palate, smooth with fine carbonation. Lovely nose of After Eight mint chocolates. Nice light chocolate with well judges and well integrated mint. Finishes smooth and minty! My favourite of the Thornbridge beers showcased tonight. Could easily have been a mess but it’s light, tasty and very very drinkable.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Cask @ CBC Islington. The pour’s deep brown with a tiny head. The nose is pretty much exactly like a juinor mint candy or a york peppermint patty. Loads of mint and chocolate syrup goodness. Sweet, nostalgic aromas. The taste is much the same. Nice, rich chocolate with a strong mint finish. Oily body, but slightly thin. Overall, a really nice beer. Apparently mint stouts can work!

4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Cask at CBI on 4th March 2013. Almost black with tan ring of foam and scant lacing. Minty, vanilla and chocolate aromas. Minty with spearmint notes and rich chocolate in-mouth. Sweetness subsides in the finish to leave a bitter core. Smooth, velvet bodyful mouthfeel. Rated as a novelty beer.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Cask at CBC, Islington. It pours dark brown/close to black colour with a small beige head that lasts quite long. Aroma is slightly roasty and mostly cocoa powder. Hints of mint as well but, luckily, not intrusive. Taste is slightly bitter upfront then turns in a more mellow sweet-ish taste with chocolate and hints of mint. Very good

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Cask at CBC Islington, London. Big thanks to Jack for the leftovers! Pours deep brown with a fine, creamy beige head. Moderate chocolate and mint leaf in the nose. Light sweet flavor with more minty cocoa, very light dirt. Light bodied with fine carbonation. A bit of menthol cooling in the finish, with further mint chocolate, mellow roast, low earthy bitterness, dirt, cocoa. Really nice mint integration here.
