Pours a deep brown in colour with a tan head. The smokiness of the peated malts is matched by a smooth taste of toffee, caramel and dark fruits.

500ml Bottle - Dark brown in colour. Smoky and slightly roasted aroma with beech, ash and roasted malt. Roasted, chocolatey and moderately smoky taste with cocoa and liquorice. The smokiness is fairly subtle and is more evident in the aroma than the taste. Nicely balanced.

Bottle labelled as Thornbridge Smoked Winter Porter, this was kindly passed on by the Head Brewer (Rob?) when we visited over the Bakewell Folk Festival w/e Aug 2014 consumed at home Sunday 31st August 2014 Pours almost black with a beige head. Fruity, tangy with a decent but not overdone smokiness which whilst always apparent is actually well integrated. I liked this its a good beer. A6 A3 T7 P4 Ov14 3.4

Bottle from Vika enjoyed at home
Pours brown, dark in the glass, thick creamy tanned head. Smell of roasted malts, hints of smoke and tar, quite like being on a campfire cooking coffee :) Moderate sweet, smoked malts, also hints of tar; roasted malts as well, some thin thin coffee in the back. ends off with a dry ashtray tad in the mouth. Nice!

Drunk from 50cl bottle bought at Malting Pot, Brussels. Dark smoke flavoured porter. Like a cross between a porter and a Bamberg rauchbier. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle at home. The colour is pitch black, and has a big light brown head. Smokey aroma with coffee, camp fire, ash, forest and some dark chocolate. The flavour is similar but with even more smoke and burned wood. Slick mouth feel, and has a light to medium bitterness. A fantastic smokey porter which is very balanced and with a game character.

Pours close to black with a nice creamy looking tan head. Aroma is moderate roast on a malty backbone. Faint fruity notes with caramel and smoke. Taste is semi-sweet and well balanced. Bitter coffee notes and a lasting roasty finish. Velvety mouthfeel and soft co2.
