Pours a deep brown in colour with a tan head. The smokiness of the peated malts is matched by a smooth taste of toffee, caramel and dark fruits.

500 ml bottle from LCBO, served at cellar temperature in a tulip glass.

App.: Deep brown-black with a prolific deep tan head. Aroma: Grape jelly and other fruitiness, light phenolic/peaty smoke, limited roasted malt character. Palate: Medium+ body, fairly smooth with a few prickly bubbles. Flav.: A bit more roasted malt and a bit less fruitiness, smoke remains restrained; dry with moderate bitterness and a mixture of restrained dark-roasted malt and smokiness.

Pretty good.

Ruby-black in the glass with a tight mocha coloured cap. A nice dry porter, with roast & slight taste of ashes. Carbonation perhaps a bit more prickly than one would expect. Over all impression is a subtle & muted beer. Maybe a little muted or weak for some moods, but it is a nice sipper after a day at the education factory.

It pours opaque dark brown with ruby highlights; the head is tan and mousse-like. The aroma has notes of: dark-chocolate, wood-smoke, and shortbread. The taste is lightly bitter that finishes dry and medium bitter; there are notes of: wood-smoke, charcoal, chocolate, and coffee. The palate is medium-light bodied, has light carbonation, and a long finish. Overall, rather pleasant.

500 ml bottle from LCBO. Pours a very dark brown with modest sized light tan head. Aroma is quite roasty with a hint of peat smoke, some coffee, a bit of dark fruit and caramel. Flavour is also very roast with a solid peat smoke hit, notes of coffee, plum, cocoa and caramel. Fine, minimal carbonaton. Nice one.

Bottle from Beerhawk. Tasty smoked porter with a bit of black IPA to it. Could perhaps be a little more smoky.

As Thornbridge Smoked Winter Porter. Bottle from Vinmonopolet’s BU. Very dark brown colour. Tan to brown head. Dark fruit and smoke nose. Roasted coffee. Roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, dark fruit and smoke flavour. Medium body and carbonation. Some sweetness. Bitter ending. A bit dry ending as well. Would’ve guessed this had a lot more ABV than 5.3 %. Feels almost like an Imperial Porter. A good one for sure!

opaque peaty brown with pillowy tan head. Gentle smokey Oakwood nose, lively carbonation, full bodied, slightly minty, earthy, dry, weird mineral finish. Unfortunately the smoke dissipates far too quickly and not much else to carry flavourwise.

Pours almost black color haze with tiny light brown head. Visually low carbonation with slow up rising bubbles. Aroma of roasted malts, slightly smoked. The same is taste, roadted, smoked, with fruity esters of cherries. Body is soft, carbonation is low .
