Cask conditioned handpump Sheffield Tap Sheffield. A dark ruby coloured beer with an off-white head and copious lace. A fruity and nutty sweet mild. Good berry notes especially in the mouth. Particularly full bodied for 3.9%. Has boozy notes. Good nuttiness. Thornbridge may not call this a mild but I would. What it is though for sure is really tasty.

Cask, Derby Winter Fest 13. Dark brown with a thin foam. Aromas are nutty with light cocoa and light winter fruit. Weetabix with dusty yeast. Flavours are sweet malts with light chocolate and roast malts. Quite a nutty simple mild but a good one.

On cask at Coach and Horses, Dronfield - One of the favourites down the CnH, was sure I’d rated it in 2012, but surprised to note I’d not even drunk one in the entire year, despite it being on a pump just about every time I went in. Anyway, dark reddish brown colour with foamy, beige head. Malty, fruity nose with notes of dried fruit, raisins and dark bread. Malty, slightly fruity taste with dark bread, raisins, prunes and a dry finish with a mild bitterness. Light body, mainly dry. Quite nice, and a good session beer.

Southampton Arms, Gospel Oak 6 Nov 12. Ekstremt dyprød/svart. Ytterst lite skum. Svak kaffearoma. En kan ane en smak av litt sjokolade & kaffe, men den er syltynn.

Half-pint, cask served in a mug at Southampton Arms. Clear and deep rosewood coloured body with a bare naked surface. Nose is roasted malts with notes of chocolate. Chocolate, anise and prunes in flavour followed by a rather short lived malt-fruity ending. Rather thin bodied. OK without standing out in any way (London, 06.11.2012).

Cask @ Hallamshire House, Sheffield 031112
Black with ruby edges, good creamy off white head, good lacing
Aroma of roasted malts, slight charcoal
Taste - roasted malts, background of fruity malts, some red berries, not much else
Palate - soft carb, thinnish body, texture is a little oily. Finish as main flavour, some soft fruity malt and light roast
Overall - Soft easy, ok, but not up to usual Thornbridge standards
