Bottle conditioned;
Bracia is the Celtic name for a beverage brewed in Iron Age Europe with reference found on a Roman inscription at Haddon Hall,Derbyshire. Little is known about this except it was high in alcohol, brewed with cereals and, most probably, honey. Thornbridge’s Bracia has been infused with a generous amount of dark and bitter Chestnut Honey. This was sourced by Head Brewer Stefano Cossi from Beekeeper Onelia Pin in the Alpine foothills of North East Italy. Aromas are of chestnut, honey, cappuccino, white chocolate, dark fruits, vibrant fresh peel. The mouthfeel is velvety and rich, with notes of coffee, chocolate, liquorice and hazelnuts with warming alcohol, cocoa and a little peat in the finish. Malts: Maris Otter, Brown, Munich, Dark Crystal, Black, Chocolate, Peated and Roasted Barley. Hops: Target, Pioneer, Hallertau Northern Brewer and Sorachi Ace. Bracia can be cellared for up to one year, maybe longer. Its flavours will evolve so why not enjoy the experience of opening a bottle every once in a while.

Not sure how to rate this. Very complex and rich aroma - herbal, woody. The flavor was herbal and woody as well with some peat. I sort of liked it and sort of thought it tasted a little medicinal. A for effort but this didn’t work for me. Serving: Bottle

500th rate. From a bottle. Pours black with a very nice looking metallic tan head. Nice big aroma of coffee, chocolate, dried fruit and bubblegum. Roast malt is more up front in the taste, smokey, chocolate, makes way to the fruitiness and a bubblegum finish. Thick as is gets, very heavy on the palate, quite sweet, doesn’t finish very well. The sorachi is quite prominent, a hop I’m not a fan of, lets it down a bit for me but otherwise a big and well balanced beer

Bottle in honour of Benh’s 500th rate. Peace be with you Ben. Shalom. Pours black with a wonderful bronze head. Bubblegum on the nose. Sweet alcohol and roasted malt flavours. Warming. Syrupy, oily mouthfeel. Good gear like...

(Bottle, 0.5 l - BBE 25.11.16, at Hilpeä Hauki, 20120131) The beer poured black. Its head was medium sized and light brown. Aroma had roasted malts, chocolate, smoke, sweetness and molasses. Palate was medium bodied, warming and oily with medium carbonation. Flavours were roasted malts, chocolate, ash, sweetness, caramell, coffee and bitterness. Aftertaste was roasty, sweet and bitter. Rich and balanced taste but a bit harsh, too. Aging would quite likely improve this beer but it’s already a good and delicious one.

UPDATED: JAN 26, 2012 Bottle from Utobeer. Colour is impressive, dark brown with red burgundy wine edges and a creamy tan head which dissapates quickly. Nose is very earthy, clay, waxy, then underneath that its nutty, red wine, chocolate, honey. Frankly a weird combination of flavours. Taste is damn good. Sweet earthy chocolate, hot choc cocoa powder, red wine, bit of light milky coffee. On the finish there’s a bit of liquorice, roasted grain and peat with an alcohol bite. Surely this is an imperial stout?

0.5 l bottle bought from GBBF 2011.Black color. Rich aroma of hazelnuts and leather cream (shoe wax). Rich smoothly roasty flavor with coffee, honey, coconut, licorice and hazelnuts. Full soft body. A peculiar shoe wax aroma and flavor, not bad by any means, very good in fact.

Bottle 500 ml
Aroma: Lovely aroma. Best of best mead notes, herbal, soft, and sunny with floral twist. Hint of lavender and various herbs. Splendid.10-
Appearance: brownish-black with large dark tanned brownish crown. Nice presented lace.4+
Palate / Taste: oily, thick bodied. Heavy brew yet not cloying. I wonder how much mead in in here? Sweet with alcohol warmth. Floral top, some alcoholic dryness as you go. Sticky palate. This brew is something else! World class offering.
