COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle conditioned;
Bracia is the Celtic name for a beverage brewed in Iron Age Europe with reference found on a Roman inscription at Haddon Hall,Derbyshire. Little is known about this except it was high in alcohol, brewed with cereals and, most probably, honey. Thornbridge’s Bracia has been infused with a generous amount of dark and bitter Chestnut Honey. This was sourced by Head Brewer Stefano Cossi from Beekeeper Onelia Pin in the Alpine foothills of North East Italy. Aromas are of chestnut, honey, cappuccino, white chocolate, dark fruits, vibrant fresh peel. The mouthfeel is velvety and rich, with notes of coffee, chocolate, liquorice and hazelnuts with warming alcohol, cocoa and a little peat in the finish. Malts: Maris Otter, Brown, Munich, Dark Crystal, Black, Chocolate, Peated and Roasted Barley. Hops: Target, Pioneer, Hallertau Northern Brewer and Sorachi Ace. Bracia can be cellared for up to one year, maybe longer. Its flavours will evolve so why not enjoy the experience of opening a bottle every once in a while.

Review based on the BJCP2008 guidelines (style 19B, adapted). Bottle 50 cl - Batch unknown. AROMA: aroma of sweet coffee (cappuccino, coffe and milk), black liquorice, dark chocolate, slight roasted cereals and faint wallnuts. soft alcohol aroma on the background. APPEARANCE: very dark brown color and opaque. brown average head with average retention. alcohol derived viscosity with some lacing. TASTE: initial prominent coffee and dark chocolate with a supportive moderatly sweet background. notes of black liquorice and a faint wallnut note. apparent low hop derived bitterness altough the finish is bitter from the roasted malts. finishes semi-dry with a long coffee-like and nutty aftertaste. PALATE: velvety texture with a medium-full body. smooth alcohol warming. OVERALL: an outstanding and complex dark ale that should be enjoyed at a very slow pace. higly recommended.

Bottle at Van Moll, Eindhoven. Deep dark brown color, brown head. Great rich nose and taste with coffee and chocolate, dried fruits, honey, vanilla and bourbon. Incredible lingering aftertaste with sweet coffee and caramel tones. Low carbonation, big body and creamy mouthfeel.

Looks pretty stoutish..black with a small tan head, poured slowly. The lacing is pretty impressive. The smell is big time, umm, roasty, nutty, chocolaty, smell some licorice, coffee..yummy. As bold as the aromas permeating my nosebuds are, the taste takes it up a notch. Hazelnuts and coffee abound, licorice is there but plays a minor role. This is really quite bitter and right at the end, I get a bit of a smoky character. It’s not overly heavy in the body. More like what I’ve seen mentioned...velvety smooth. Spot on carbonation. This just plain blows me away with how good it is and how drinkable it is. At 9% abv, there’s no alcohol in the taste at all. Just a wee bit of warming on a morning, here in Casper, where it’s BLOODY SNOWING and there was no warning. Cheers!

6.12.2013. Täysin musta, ruskea vaahto. Tuoksussa paahteista kahvia. Maussa ensin kermaista pehmeyttä, siirtyy paahteiseen ja leipäiseen, omenaa, keskellä suklaan ja kahvin aromeja, pähkinää. Jälkimaussa karamellia ja kuivaa paahteisuutta.

Pite rok temu. Butelka 0,5. Zapach - ciemne i suszone owoce, karmelowa slodycz, palonosc.

BlackHaddock (4552) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - FEB 24, 2015
Shared on 17 Feb 15 in Shrewsbury. Almost black colour with a tanned topping, 100ml each. Roasted malts in the nose with dark fruits, semi-sweet dark chocolate and wood esters. The taste followed along the same lines, woody and earthy in equal amounts with an alcohol kick from the first sip. Good body depth and far too easy to drink.
