Craft Islington. Cask. Clear dark amber beer, residual pale tan head. Light dry palate, modest fine carbonation. Mellow dark malts, lightly tangy and milky. Trace of dark fruits. Light dry finish. More disappointing Thornbridge.

Cask at the Hanging Bat. Pours black with a thin beige head. Aromas of liquorice, light tar, roast. Taste is dark chocolate, liquorice, light sweet finish. Good body, oily texture.

Cask at the Sloaney Pony, near-black with a thin head, roasty and lightly winey nose, creamy body with a dry-bitter finish. Lightly smoky with light notes of red fruit and caramel.

On gravity at the Beamish Hall Winter Festival. mahogany with no real head. some nice roasty notes. A little thin but good. I expect more from Thornbridge though.

Cask at the Craft Beer Co, Covent Garden. Poured a clear dark brown with a thin broken light tan head. The aroma is light malt, earthy mineral. The flavour is light bitter with a light malt bitter coffee light smoky spice palate. Moderate to light bodied with soft carbonation.

Cask. York Tap. Clear, dark chestnut brown. Frothy, lasting, tan head. Roast coffee malts. Hint of cocoa. Taste is roast bitter. Quite dry. Palate is a bit thin. Finishes dry, and long, roast bitter.

Cask at stags head, sheffield. Black with a tan head. Aroma is subtle coffee and faint roasty malts. Taste is very mild, lingering bitterness on the tongue. Mild carbonation and a medium/thin body, not bad though, great beer to swill round the mouth, very smooth.

Cask post office vaults Birmingham. Black tan head low retention. Aroma is roasted malts coffee. Taste is roasted malts fruits coffee choc light bitterness. Body bit thin. Ok stuff
