COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Occasional.
Thornbridge’s first new cask beer of 2011 is Chiron (5% - Pale Ale) – named after a Greek mythological character - a statue of whom resides at Thornbridge Hall. Chiron was a centaur - creatures notorious for being wild and lusty, overly indulgent drinkers and carousers. By contrast Chiron was intelligent, civilized, and known for his knowledge and skill. We like to think our Chiron is a sophisticated drink developed with knowledge and skill but containing just that little hint of hoppy devilment. Chiron Pale Ale is golden in colour. The aroma is subtle but spicy with citric notes from the hops, balanced by biscuity malt and tart citrus fruit. In the mouth, there is a superb balance of tart hops, juicy malt and tangy fruit while the lingering finish offers a hint of apricot and tangerine before it finally becomes dry, bitter and hoppy but underscored by sweet malt. A beautifully balanced and wonderfully refreshing beer.

Another winner from Thornbridge - off Keg at Portland Works, huge tropical aroma and equally awesome flavour. Tastes like a great double IPA but without the alcohol cost.

Bottle from Mane Liquor. The balance and crispness of this beer sets it apart from most Golden ales. Very clean and citric driven. Light and zesty, quite refreshing. Good stuff

On tap at Crowbar. Golden with a white head. Hoppy and fruity aroma with pale malt and hints citrus. Moderate to lightly sweet with a nice fruitiness and bitterness. Lovely and refreshing.

Bottle @ home. One month old. Aroma has nice fruity and floral hops, some caramel. Flavour is crisp and refreshing, subtle but very long lingering hop bitterness, fruity and spicy. Great. Please also make a double ipa with this recipe!

Bottle from Mane Liquor. Pours a clear, straw yellow with 2cm of soft white head. Big grapefruit, lychee and floral hop aroma with minimal malt. Taste is sweet, lots of grapefruit and tropical/citrus fruit flavours. Nice lingering bitterness, however the body was a touch light for my standards.

El aroma a cítricos se nota bastante y un poco en el sabor también. El amargor es ligero. No está mal.

Tap House, Norwich. Pale golden colour with a slim, dense head. Complex aroma of spicy, floral and some citrus hops. Great flavour with spice, fresh green leaves, tropical citrus and bubblegum. Good, medium body for a golden, with a very fine carbonation.

09/05/2013 Open Baladin (tap). Dorata, limpida, schiuma biancastra morbida, non molto abbondante e non molto persistente.

On tap at the Hoppy Loft. Pours a hazy apricot color with a nice thick white cap. Smell is tropical fruit, mango and some floral notes. The taste is mellow tropical fruit, some malt sweetness comes through in the middle ends a touch dry. Light body with average carbonation level. A very nice pale ale.

Keg in Craft Brixton. Light, bright golden yellow in colour, not much head. Mild hoppy aroma. Quite a well balanced ale, crisp malty background, light hop, hint of spice. Quite delicate. Well made if not exciting.

On tap at The Bishop Arms Folkungagatan, pours a clear golden blonde with a small white head. Aroma of cereal malts, straw and a little corn. Flavour brings out dry cereal malts, straw, corn and some crackery malts. Very light and refreshing, with a nice balance. Pretty standard stuff, but well-made for what it is.
