American Pale Ale
Golden in colour Chiron offers a superb balance of tart hops, juicy malt and tangy fruit while the lingering finish offers a hint of apricots and tangerines before a biscuity malt and hoppy finish.

On tap at The Bishop Arms Folkungagatan, pours a clear golden blonde with a small white head. Aroma of cereal malts, straw and a little corn. Flavour brings out dry cereal malts, straw, corn and some crackery malts. Very light and refreshing, with a nice balance. Pretty standard stuff, but well-made for what it is.

Draught @ Kaunis Kampela. Aroma has fruity hops, minerals and hints of apricot. Flavour has fruity hops, strong mineral tones, some apricot and hay. Rather typical golden ale - with some extra hops and freshness!

(keg) hazy amber-golden colour with a frothy off-white head. aroma of gooseberries and rotten peaches, quite skunky, with a hint of resin, some floral hops and caramel. flavour is mostly caramel, vanilla and mango, with a light hint of maracuja and a semi-dry finish. medium-bodied with average carbonation.

I’m delighted. I wasn’t expecting as much hop as I got to the point where it is well within style. This beer has a faint haze, a voluminous white head and a niff of lime leaf, grapefruit, tangelo, lemongrass and herbal-ness. What it missing, making it slightly out of style is a raw green spruce cone character, apricot malt and a certain amount of violence that I tend to find in Pacific NW APAs. That said, it has a lovely base of peachy malt and a gentle ’sing’ of bitterness. It is a little too well balanced for an APA, but as a stand-alone beer it has a lovely lime and kumquat finish that is just lovely.

Bottle from the Thornbridge Christmas case. Amber/gold pour with a white head. Baked apple and pear aroma. Crisp fruit action with a light nutty bite in the flavour. Good bitterness. Nice.

Bottle 500ml. Poured out 1-finger head that dissipates quickly to a smaller head with retention. Lots of lively carbonation in the glass. The beer is pale and cloudy depicting a lazy summer’s day. Aroma is subtle flavours of orange peel, citrus and slight resin notes. Light to medium-bodied and nice levels of carbonation on the palate make it very drinkable. Taste is a bang of flavours hinted by the aroma: big hoppy citrus flavours of orange, apricot and mango with a slightly malty middle, followed by a bitter finish. Not normally my kind of brew, but if like me you’re slowly introducing yourself to more hoppy beers, this is a great one for you.

Bottle. Golden, white head. Delicious aroma of citrussy hops. Taste of citrus, pine and some biscuit. Bit thin, but that belongs to the style.

Goldish pale color. Decent hoppy notes in the nose. The taste is dominated by hoppy citrus and grapefruit flavors. The bitterness is very present, but not overwhelming. The beer might be a bit too dry, but still very balanced.

[6978-20141211] Bottle. Mineral orange hops aroma. Slightly hazy, orange brown body with a big long-lasting foamy white head. Bitter evergreen needles and light orange hops flavour. Medium body. Nice bitter brew. (8/4/8/4/16) 4.0

Bottle @ home. Pours golden with a white head. Malty taste. Tropical fruits, hops, citrus, some spise, grass. Lively carbonation. Nice bittersweet finish.
