Bottled Sep 2011. Poured into tulip. Black with a little scummy head. Some sherry in the smell, blackberry. Mouthfeel is medium, slightly foamy. The blackberry is less noticeable in the taste. Roasted barley, slight tartness, yeast is hardly perceptible, slight orange, some coffee. Nice porter.

Cask at ACBF 2012. A dark brown beer with a thin beige head. The aroma has notes of berries, chocolate, malt, caramel, and chilis? The flavor is sweet witth notes of roasted malt, caramel, berries, leading to a dry and lightly tart finish where the berry note lingers.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Dark brown pour with some red highlights. Small, creamy tan head that sticks around as a nice layer, plenty of lacing. Chocolate and black malts, with a coffee aroma and big hints of fruit. Fruity sourness up front with a nice creamy sweetness of malt, some chocolate. Nice sweet finish with a hint of bitterness. Very nice.

Dark porter without foam. Notes of choclat, raisins. Also a little bit roasty. The blackberries add a special fruity taste.

[330ml bottle, The Bottle Shop, Canterbury] Pours deep burgundy brown, with a thin, off-white head. Interesting to compare to regular Evenlode, which I loved on cask. Very similar – the rich, sweet mocha element is there, nutty and with some faint raisin. On the finish, the blackberries do come out – they are quite mild, but definitely in evidence. Really enjoyed this. On balance, I’d still prefer the original, but both are excellent

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from the Brewery, Bakewell, Derbyshire consumed at Bacup, Lancashire, Friday 06.04.12 in company of Loz, Nigel, Katy, Mark & Kathy at the Bacup Coco-Nutters weekend. Tangy and fruity with a definite blast of hedgerow fruits, not sure that I would have instantly got the Blackberries but knowing they are there you do tend to notice the impact that they have. Touch roasty and just plenty of dark fruits also showing, decent beer with a great tang. A7 A4 T7 P4 Ov15 3.7

In bottle at Craigs. Pours a very dark brown colour with a fair tan head. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, roasty malt and caramel. Similar flavours with just a hint of blackberry. Mild carbonation and bitterness with lingering burnt toast and blackberries again. Lovely!
