stravale (2315) - Near Carrick-on-Shannon, IRELAND - NOV 6, 2012
Keg @ Bath Hotel, Sheffield
Copper amber, thin small bubbly white head, good lacing
Aroma of caramel malts, soft toasted malts, lots of grassy hops, citrus hops, some grapefruit, complex hop nose, some tropical fruits, mango, no booze at all
Taste of complex hops, citrus hops, orange peel, zesty, grassy hops, some resin, fruity caramel malts underneath, very US - yeah..it’s an imperial Sequoia, lots of malt and big time hops
Palate - medium carb and body. Finish as main flavour, only a touch of booze on the finish
Overall - Really good beer but the malts can get a wee bit heavy after a while

Keg. Amber/orange color, dissipating thin off-white head. The nose is tropical fruits (papaya?), sweet caramel, and hop resin. Tastes full of sweet tropical fruits, spices, and really impressive malt balance considering the high hop content (think Dogfish Head 90-ish),

Lovely aroma. Crystal clear amber appearance with a silky, slightly off-white head. Taste is just a little too astringent to make the experience perfect. Leaving a definite peppery tickle at the back of the throat. Otherwise a cracking beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Good and hoppy, with a rich boozy kick at the end. Feels heavy and oily in the mouth, but the pine notes seem to clear that. A good one to have in passing, but not one to spend a session with.
