Draft at Monks. Slightly hazy gold pour. Large white head that left runny lace. Lemon seeds. Grapefruit pith. Pine needles. Artichoke. Elderflower. Parsley. Fresh oak. Just a little barnyard on the nose. Lots of juicy citrus up front but finishes with a sharp bitter hop bite.

Bottle. Aroma is unsurprisingly resinous and tropical hoppy with pine, pineapple, ripe mango, citrus (grapefruit mostly) and hints of blackcurrant. Sweet yet crisp. The malt backbone is strongyet because of pale malts having been used, felt only in terms of the beer’s thick body and heaviness. Intense hoppy flavour that uses its crisp tropical notes to balance the body really well. Strongly hopped yet still not overhopped, graceful so to speak. Great beer!

Eructoblaster (3243) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - MAY 12, 2013
Bottle - 500ml. Hazy golden body with an average white foamy/creamy head. Fresh hoppy aroma with melon and grapefruit hints. Alcohol is well hidden. Its sharp hoppy taste carries fruity and coriander notes. Ends with a long, robust bitter finish. Very good IPA.

ACHops (893) - Seattle, Washington, USA - MAY 9, 2013
On tap @ Bambino’s. Pours pale golden with thick creamy head. Aroma is mild floral hops and fresh cut grass. Taste is smooth pale roasted caramel malt and assertive, earthy, lemony, bitter hops. Quite flavorful but oddly not sweet at all which you might expect with this abv. Easily one of the best English IPAs I’ve had - clearly influenced by the newer west coast styles. Much stronger and hoppier than the standard English IPA.

Davros (2182) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - MAY 8, 2013
Pours gold with a small head. Nose shows light fruit: pears, apples, elderflower. Also some sweet light malt. Flavours instead focus on spicy and earthy hops with a soft light malt character in the background. Bitterness is not insane but stands out amongst the low malt.

SarkyNorthener (2689) - West Bromwich (Yorkshire Expat), West Midlands, ENGLAND - MAY 2, 2013
Drinking this whilst reading Pete Browns book on IPA, Hops and Glory. Bottle. Orange golden beer with a slight haze. Small head. Aroma of pine needles, orange and grapefruit. Taste is also piney with grapefruit and orange. But there is also a sweetness there, more than most IPAs. Quite carbonated, but this fits well. A very nice IPA, better than the Jaipur in my opinion.

Bottle. Golden-amber beerw ith a cream head. Grapefruit and light pine aroma. Grapefruit and light summer fruit flavor with light pine. Medium bodied. Nice biterness. Summer fruit and grapefruit linger.

Scopey (8230) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - APR 25, 2013
Keg at York Tap. It pours hazy golden with a thick white head. The nose is earth, straw, orange, grapefruit, sherbet, urine and spice. The taste is zesty citrus (tangerine & grapefruit), floral, straw, dough, moderate bitterness and a touch of alcohol with a dry, bitter finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Decent enough IPA, but not Thornbridge’s best offering.

Kosmokrator (517) - ITALY - APR 21, 2013

500ml bottle from Peckhams (£3.75):
Medium, hop filled aroma with a lot of pine and some subdued tropical fruit notes coming through. The smell isn’t a weak one by any means but I was expecting stronger from a double IPA. There is some citrus notes shooting through and an earthy floral scent with a touch of sourness.
Clear golden colour with a good sized, foamy white head on top that had good retention and only shows a slight reduction in size.
Bitter pine hops and floral notes straight off the bat and this is coupled with a fruity bitterness, mainly grapefruit and a few tropical fruit flavours as well. There is some citrus too.
Strong & smooth beer with light medium carbonation and a strong citrus and alcohol laced kick. The beer is quite dry at the finish and very bitter.

An average double IPA, perhaps a little light although it smelt quite nice. Bitterness levels were what let it down, I felt it was a little to strong on the front. Still, not a bad effort from Thornbridge.
