Bottle. Hallamshire House, Sheffield. Bottled December 2011. Clear, dark ruby red. Thin, dense, slow moving, lasting, tan coloured head. The nose has a very savoury, meaty, beefy, soy sauce thing going on. Lots of liquorice. Some ripe, black fruits. Hint of vanilla. Hint of peppery spice. Loads of depth. As it warms, a cherry liqueur chocolate sweetness comes in. Taste is rich, dark chocolate bitter. Some dryness, too. Sweetness on the lips. Palate is rich, smooth, boozy, and a little oily. Finishes with some smoky sweetness, and a chewy, rich, bitterness. Yer genuine rabbit gravy of a beer.

[Bottle (12oz) shared with Ferris, jercraigs & mabel -- c/o j&m. 2011 vintage] Pours a dark amber-brown with an average size lasting frothy light-brown head. Slightly odd aroma of roasted malt, milk chocolate, cigarette ash, dark fruit and anise. Flavour of roasted malt along with ash and vinous notes. Medium bodied. A bit of an odd duck this one, pretty good but not great.

2014-08-26. Black body with a modest tan head. Aroma is quite interesting, sort of tangy vinous character, light earthy not quite smokey character, dark malt core. 8+ Flavour is similar, with a very sweet dark malt core, light dusty malt and cocoa notes, and a mild tangy fruity quality throughout. Really interesting. 8+ Smooth average plus to medium bodied palate, soft carbonation. 3++ Not sure I’d want a lot of it at once but I found it really interesting. Bottle brewed April 2011, from AleselA, Glasgow
