This smooth and rich Scotch ale has been matured for a year in Auchentoshan Scotch Whisky casks. It pours a deep mahogany with an off-white head. The aromas are a complex blend of subtle, perfumed notes of heather, hints of whisky, bonfire toffee, fresh coffee and milk chocolate. Our ’Double’ Scotch is a genuine expression of maltness, with the rich sweet malt marrying perfectly with gentle oak and whisky flavours.

Bottle picked up at Cotteridge Wines, Birmingham and consumed at home Thursday 6th August 2015 Brown in colour in fact with a distinct ruby red glow, the head is foamy and light beige. Some bitter bonfire toffee but boozy, the barrel ageing comes through, Loz gets smokiness in mouth and copper coins on the nose. I am hugely underwhelmed by this beer at a rather steep £9.99 a bottle I was expecting something much better. A6 A4 T6 P3 Ov11 3.0

Bottle@Kerho, Tampere, Finland. Spicy flavors like cardamom, mint and cherry dominate, but there are also some sweet malts and licorice. Smooth and balanced, though light/medium body is too light for this style. Very high quality and tasty product.

Soft oaked malty, bready spice aroma with bergamot head. Flavour is deep, slightly spiced and woody with old whisky connotations. There is an intriguing dryness to the palate and a little marmitesque flavour going on. Overall, good

Review based on the BJCP2008 guidelines (style 9E, adapted). Bottle 50 cl - Batch Unknown. AROMA: mild whisky barrel aroma with notes of toffee, sweet coffe and chocolate. APPEARANCE: ruby body with orange highlights and translucent. medium tanned head with good retention. some lacing present and alcohol derived viscosity. TASTE: nice flavour of coffee, chocolate and a note of toffe, all combined with a whiskey flavour and slight barrel touch. medium-low bitterness with semi-dry finish. PALATE: medium-light body with medium-low carbonation. smooth alcohol warmth noticeable. OVERALL: a very good an complex "scotch" ale aged in whiskey barrels that lends it a special touch. Recommended.
