COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This smooth and rich Scotch ale has been matured for a year in Auchentoshan Scotch Whisky casks. It pours a deep mahogany with an off-white head. The aromas are a complex blend of subtle, perfumed notes of heather, hints of whisky, bonfire toffee, fresh coffee and milk chocolate. Our ’Double’ Scotch is a genuine expression of maltness, with the rich sweet malt marrying perfectly with gentle oak and whisky flavours.

Bottle. An almost clear one, dark amber in color and with a creamy beige head of moderate size. It’s quite malty on the nose, with toffee, some dried fruits and a faint roasted touch. Some influence from the barrel too, both in the aroma and in the flavor. There’s a little alcohol warmth in the mouth, with a pleasant carbonation. Full body. Roasted malts, toffee and some coffee hints. Lasting finish. A really fine specimen, perhaps a bit warming though. 150228

Mild nach Pfefferminze im Antrunk, etwas bitter, holzig, alles harmonisch aber auf eher geringer Intensität. Karamellig im mitellangen Nachgeschmack. 11/9/9/8/9/9

Clear dark brown with beige foam. The smell is creamy with some shy whisky notes. The taste is coffee and licorice dominated, but the whisky barrel is quite noticeable (more the actual whiskytaste than the typical sweet creamy barrel-induced aromas). The aftertaste is rather short, but some aromas stay intact. Even some vanilla notes show up. Quite nice, but I still don’t like coffee.

Dirty dark brown color with impressive head for a one-year BA. Lowland whisky in the aroma, perfumy, sweet malts, caramel. Taste is rich, very different, pumpkin (that was it!), bitter finish with great coffee. Slick mouthfeel. The easy, smooth Lowland whisky works out great here!

Bottle. Deep brown with full beige head that lasts. Aroma is malty oaky with detectable alcohol. Taste is malty ,caramel sweetness with underlying hop bitterness. Lingering aftertaste but alcohol a bit too pronounced for my liking. Pretty good though.

Bottle from Vika enjoyed at home
Pours very dark, almost black in glass, huge dense creamy tanned head. Smell of smooth lowland whisky, spice, hints of cocoa and vanilla, oak, toffee and dark malts. Medium sweet, dark malts, oak, whisky, toffee, quite subtile balanced. Moderate bitter, soil and earth. Quite enjoyable, the whisky infusion is very nice. As a whisky lover i have to say that Auchentoshan is not anywhere near a favouite, but it worked well here. Quite impressive brew

Rich rust-cream head over fully opaque brown beer with garnet reflections. First smoked/phenolic, then immediately chocolate. I do indeed detect hints of heather, dry wood and ashes, coffeemilk, shampoo. Dry, bitter, whisky, tar, alcohol(heat) and chocolate; hops in the finish. Bitterish-burnt caramel. Delicate roast/sweet balance, very well managed. Well-bodied, rich velvety feel, seems well-carbonated. Excellent beer - one for the holidays.
